Born in Seattle and raised in Portland, Oregon, Paula Jean moved to Montreal, Quebec in 1989. After a few years in the fashion industry, she returned to school, receiving a BFA in Theatre Performance from Concordia University. A dual citizen of the US and Canada, she has since been an actor in film, television, voiceover, theatre, commercials, and video games. On screen, she's had the opportunity to play everything from non-nonsense law enforcement (Quantico, Rogue, Cyberbully, Stealing Paradise), cutthroat lawyers (No Surrender, The Sisterhood), and icy psychiatrists (The Fischer Case) to trustworthy bartenders (Barney's Version), loving-if-dysfunctional mothers (Being Human, The Phantom, Gleason), and nice church ladies (Naked Josh).

Her love of storytelling in all its forms led her to screenwriting. In addition to co-writing a pilot for a historical drama series (Bellum), she wrote, produced, and co-starred in the award-winning action-comedy short film Are You My Mommy. It premiered at the 2018 Dances With Films Festival in Hollywood and continued its festival run through 2021, picking up several awards along the way, including Best Comedy at the Artemis Women In Action Film Festival, The People's Choice Award at the Vancouver Island Short Film Festival, and Best Actress in the Independent Shorts Awards. She looks forward to producing her first feature film script, Big Picture, a comedic drama about an artist-turned-house painter on the brink of burnout whose relationship with a disabled podcaster leads her to face her emotional demons.

Paula Jean is currently based in Los Angeles.
