Songs or scores from “Soul,” “Minari,” “Tenet,” “News of the World,” “”Euphoria” and “The Queen’s Gambit” were among the winners Wednesday night at the 11th annual (and first virtual) Hollywood Music in Media Awards.
Breaking down categories by genre affords the HMMAs the opportunity to cast a wide net in its awards. Film-related trophies went to James Newton Howard for “News of the World,” for outstanding score in a feature film; Emile Mosseri for “Minari” in the independent film category; Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross and Jon Batiste for “Soul” as the outstanding animated film score; Ludwig Göransson’s work on “Tenet” for sci-fi/fantasy score; Benjamin Wallfisch’s “The Invisible Man” score in the horror division; and Steven Price for documentary score for Netflix’s “David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet.”

The Grounder-Sky People coaliton has fallen apart once again on The 100 Season 4 Episode 4. But, hey – what else is new?
There were plenty of intriguing parallels and plot developments throughout "A Lie Guarded." But what I liked best were the opportunities for several of the cast members to really stretch their acting chops.
I'm referring, of course, to Octavia's "death" and Bellamy's reaction to it.
"Skairippa" appeared to have been killed during a scuffle with Echo. "Scuffle" might be too light of a word – what actually happened is that Echo and Roan effectively dismantled the coalition after discovering that Skaikru was fortifying Arkadia and that they had Luna (a Nightblood).
I predicted in my reviews of The 100 Season 4 Episode 2 and The 100 Season 4 Episode 3 that Echo's decision to investigate Arkadia and Octavia's lie about the chip's destruction would come back to cause issues. I didn't think it would be this soon.

TNT’s latest crime drama ‘Perception’ is a show I’ve been looking forward to since I first heard about it some time last year. Firstly, it’s right up my street. The premise of a cop procedural lead by an eccentric, outcast ‘detective’ type may be overused these days – but so much of my favourite TV has come from this set up. It’s an appealing one that always has potential if handled in the right way, and hopefully an ‘original’ way. The question is, does Perception do this? The answer in short, is yes, for the most part.
The case itself was fairly humdrum. The inclusion of a crooked drug company spiced things up a bit, but the conclusion of a runaway couple attempting to kill an existing partner is well played and nothing new. However, this was made up for by the way...

Jeff Russo has signed on to score the upcoming indie drama Cherry. The movie is directed by Stephen Elliot and stars James Franco, Heather Graham, Dev Patel, Ashley Hinshaw, Jonny Weston and Lili Taylor. Elliot co-wrote the script with Lorelei Lee and Liz Destro (Explicit Ills) is producing the project. Cherry was shot this summer in San Francisco and has recently entered post-production. No release date has been announced yet, but the movie isn’t expected to premiere until next year.
Russo is also scoring the USA hit show Necessary Roughness. The composer has taken over scoring duties on the show from Adam Gorgoni who wrote the music for the first couple of episodes (with Tree Adams also providing music for the pilot). The drama starring Callie Thorne,...
