Dexter Fletcher is directing Egerton as he portrays John in the various stages of his legendary life. Lee Hall wrote the script for the package, and John is producing with Marv Films and Matthew Vaughn alongside John’s Rocket Pictures partner and husband David Furnish.

In 2012, John had said he wanted Justin Timberlake to play him. Then, Tom Hardy’s name was being floated by producers on the film.

Charlize Theron still hoping to star in a Furiosa Mad Max spin off

Charlize Theron has said that she would be excited to be a part of a George Miller-directed Furiosa spin off from Mad Max: Fury Road.

When Mad Max: Fury Road came out back in 2015 it was an instant hit with fans and critics alike. It seemed almost a given that there would be some sort of sequel by now, but alas, it hasn’t materialised.

Charlize Theron’s character Furiosa was one of the most popular components of the Tom Hardy-led film and the actress has now voiced her interest in starring in her own spin off. Speaking to Screen Rant, Theron said:

“I hope so. I love that character I loved working with George Miller and if he was ever on board, yeah. I mean, I would be in right from the beginning. With him (George Miller) it’s kind of like working with Jason Reitman. I

Exclusive: Charlize Theron Really Wants to Do a George Miller Furiosa Spinoff

Charlize Theron is ready for a Mad Max: Fury Road spinoff about Furiosa to happen with George Miller. There aren’t many reboots that can match the acclaim that came with George Miller’s reboot of Mad Max. A franchise that once starred Mel Gibson was handed over to Tom Hardy a few years back. Despite production issues and reportedly a heated set when things got rolling, Fury Road still managed to be one of 2015’s best films. It was a return to form for Miller as he delivered an adrenaline-filled ride from start to finish. While Hardy played the titular character, it was Theron’s Furiosa that really caught on with audiences.

Still Hoping For a Sequel to Mad Max: Fury Road? We Have Some Upsetting News

Almost as soon as George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road was unleashed in theaters back in 2015, it raked in overwhelmingly positive reviews that hailed it as a thrilling, unexpectedly feminist action masterpiece and made almost $400 million at the worldwide box office. As it stands, the six-time Oscar-winning film has a rock solid 97 percent critics score on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, as well as an 85 percent audience score. All of this is to say that Miller's film, starring Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, was sequel material pretty much straight out of the gate. So, what's the deal?

Scripts for two sequels have actually already been written by Miller, since production for Fury Road was plagued by long delays including weather problems and the fact Theron and Hardy didn't get along. It provided him more than enough time to figure out where he wanted the rest of the trilogy to go.
