Judas Priest’s New Album Firepower Included on Billboard’s 40 Most Anticipated Albums of 2018

It will be album Number 18 for Judas Priest, and it’s single “Lighting Strike” is available now. Considering that the majority of the musical world already views the band’s music as the best ever written, it’s fascinating that Rob Halford describes the album as some of the best work they’ve done. It’s hard to top Judas Priest… even when it’s Judas Priest. Take a look at the new “Lightning Strike” video: The legendary British heavy metal band has been “making metal” for four decades now, and they continue to seek out new riffs and new melodies. It’s something they enjoy.

Halloween 2017: Heavy Metal Horror Double Feature – Deathgasm and The Devil’S Candy

  • DailyDead
[To get you into the spooky spirit, the Daily Dead team is spotlighting double features that we think would be fun to watch this Halloween season. Keep an eye on Daily Dead for more double feature recommendations, and check here for our previous Halloween 2017 coverage.]

This October, get ready to rock (queue bending guitar notes). Because Daily Dead productions brings you the rock event of the season with Heavy Metal Halloween (queue random explosion noises). Live, from whatever venue you want to call your house, we’ve got two face-melting, pants-dropping flicks that are sure to leave your guests on their knees worshipping at the altar of the gods of rock (queue the Rob Halford knock-off kind of, sort of, not really hitting a high note).

Okay, don’t worry. I’m not going to keep using the crappy concert ad gimmick, but this feature is going to lean heavy on the heavy metal. Think of this Halloween season double feature recommendation as an opening act and headliner that will make for a great show where metal is the connective thread, but each movie has its own tone and themes that will give at least

Black Metal Murders Movie Lords of Chaos Gets Its Cast

Few stories have bewitched extreme music fans like the church burnings and murder chronicled in Lords of Chaos, the true-crime story centered around the True Norwegian Black Metal scene of the early nineties. Varg Vikernes, the 43 year old leader of one-man band Burzum who used to go by Count Grishnackh, continues to fascinate and frustrate with his (often racist) online rants, even after serving a 14-plus year sentence for the brutal murder of his friend and rival, Euronymous.

Now, courtesy of one of the cofounders of the black metal scene, the grim story is set to get the feature film treatment.

Filmmaker Jonas &#197kerlund will cowrite and direct Lords Of Chaos, a joint production between Vice Films, Insurgent Media and 20th Century Fox, who has locked distribution rights in North America and select international territories. Akerlund is best known in mainstream circles as the director behind Beyonce: Lemonade, The Prodigy:

New Supernatural Poster May Hint At Season 12’s Direction

Hot on the heels of the news that Supernatural will grace the cover of Entertainment Weekly for the first time, as well as the arrival for an overdue trailer for Season 12, comes one sharp looking poster to herald the arrival of more terrifying adventures involving monsters, angels, demons, and classic rock than you can shake Rob Halford’s whip at.

While the promo image may seem a bit innocent at first and features a Sam who’s wearing a style of jacket we aren’t quite used to seeing him don, I can’t help but shake the “Meet them on the dark side” tagline. I mean, we are already well aware that Dean and his resurrected mother, Mary, will seek to free Sam from the clutches of an international chapter of the Men of Letters, but what if this season holds something more?

Sure, the producers may not go as grandiose as Chuck vs.

Slash and Dave Grohl Pay Tribute to Lemmy at the Motörhead Frontman's Funeral
The friends and family of the late Lemmy Kilmister, known for being the truly rock and roll heart of Motörhead, gathered yesterday for a funeral service. Lemmy died in late December from to a particularly aggressive form of cancer. His funeral was filled with tributes from the likes of Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, Slash, Judas Priest's Rob Halford, and Anthrax's Scott Ian. In his eulogy, Grohl described his first meeting with Lemmy, describing him as his hero, "the one true rock and roller who bridged my love of AC/DC, Sabbath, and Zeppelin, with my love of GBH and the Ramones and Black Flag." Fighting back tears, Grohl closed his speech by quoting the Little Richard song "Precious Lord Take My Hand." Deathgasm Review [SXSW 2015]

When you walk into a movie titled Deathgasm, there’s an instant expectation of horrific lunacy. By purchasing a ticket, you’re begging for a literal orgasm of death set to the tune of metallic shredding that would make Satan himself piss his pants, and that’s something first-time-feature director Jason Lei Howden delivers in droves.

Once the film kicks in, with a frantic opening credits montage that’s comprised of devilish scribblings and face-melting guitar riffs, your hair will spike up and an excited chill will shoot down your spine as one thing becomes immediately apparent – Deathgasm is the real deal. Straight from the bowels of hell comes a metalhead’s wet dream, scored by some of the thrashiest New Zealand and international metal icons around. F*ck thumbs, this film gets two metal horns way, Way up.

Judas Priest Releases First Single Off 'Redeemer of Souls' Album

Judas Priest, heavy metal legends, released the title song of their upcoming album Redeemer of Souls, their first new music in six years on Monday.

Judas Priest released “Redeemer of Souls” on YouTube and the song is also available for download on iTunes.

“Redeemer of Souls” is the first song from the band recorded without K.K. Downing, a founding member and guitarist of the group who left the band in 2011. Instead, new Judas Priest guitarist Richie Faulkner makes his debut with the band.

Rob Halford, Judas Priest’s frontman, has high hopes for their upcoming album, saying, “It’s heavy. It’s something we think our Priest fans will be thrilled with. We know we have a reputation to maintain, and we know we have to deliver something really strong and solid. The album is going to be full of all the great things you love about Judas Priest.”

I’m very sad to report the passing of Gwar frontman/founder and Holliston co-star Dave Brockie (Aka Oderus Urungus). Details are scarce, but he was found dead in his home yesterday at the age of 50. Anyone who’s ever had the pleasure of seeing a Gwar show knows what a huge loss this is for the metal community. Rest in peace.

The Simpsons apologise to Judas Priest for calling them 'death metal'

After the show referred to the heavy metal band as 'death metal', Bart Simpson has apologised via the medium of his classroom blackboard

The Simpsons' showrunner Al Jean on why the show endures after 25 seasons

Judas Priest's Rob Halford interviewed in 2010

As anyone who has been on the end of a righteous screed at at Black Country record fair will tell you, woe betide the layman who wrongly refers to a metal sub-genre – and the latest to find out the hard way are the writers of The Simpsons.

After calling the heavy metal band Judas Priest 'death metal' on a recent episode, they unleashed a Lethe-heated wave of anger from the genre's fans. "I don't care if you want to have fun at metal's expense," said Stereogum's Michael Nelson, "but if you brazenly mix up black metal and death metal – and the essence of the joke hinges on getting that reference right – well,

The Simpsons Review: “Steal this Episode” (Season 25, Episode 9)

I’ve said before that The Simpsons’ comedy is usually at its sharpest when dealing with political material, but if there’s another fertile ground where the show digs up lots of laughs it’s in its own backyard: Hollywood. In tonight’s outing, “Steal this Episode,” the show quite thoroughly savaged all sides of the issue of pirating Hollywood movies, modern blockbusters, spoiler culture and the current state of venturing to the cinema. Throw into the mix perhaps the largest collection of celebrity guest voices that the show’s done in a while, and you have a recipe for an average though still sometimes amusing episode.

So, what went wrong? Well, pirating jokes seem so 2002, and anyone who knows anything about computers knows that finding pirated movies online is about as easy as finding something on Youtube. If you can Google it, you can find it, and I, at least,
