Charles Haid was born on June 2, 1943 in San Francisco, California, USA as Charles Maurice Haid III. He is an actor and director, known for Altered States (1980), ER (1994) and Third Watch (1999). He was previously married to Elisabeth Harmon-Haid, Deborah Richter and Penelope Windust.

Charles Haid attended the Woodstock festival in 1969.
Best known for his hot-under-the-collar cop, Police Officer Andy Renko, on the hit 80s series Hill Street Blues (1981), he later concentrated on TV directing and producing, winning the Director's Guild Award for his work on another hit series ER (1994).
Son of Charles Maurice Haid Jr. and Grace Marian Folger, children: Arcadia Elizabeth, Brittany Catherine.
Brother of David Haid.
Cousin of TV host/singer Merv Griffin.
Has 2 daughters, Arcadia Elizabeth Haid and Brittany Catherine Haid, with actress Penelope Windust.
