Jason Grossman is the Coordinating Producer for Laughing Liberally
(Eric Krebs Productions, Inc.) a political comedy show that sets out to
save democracy one laugh at a time. Additional New York credits
include, Golf: The Musical (Off- Broadway), Serenade the World: Music
and Words by Oscar Brown Jr. (New York Musical Theater Festival) and
IRNE nominated for Best Solo Performance 2004, Riding the Wave.com
(director/producer) at the Greenwich Street Theater as part of the New
York International Fringe Festival 2004.
His regional directing credits include, Peace by Barry Oshry (Hovey Players), Heartbeat by Lisa Seymore-Terry (Boston Playwrights' Theatre), Moon Over Buffalo by Ken Ludwig (Mercutio, Emerson), Cowboy Mouth by Sam Shepard (Mercuito, Emerson). He has assistant directed and conducted educational research at New Repertory Theatre in Boston for the productions Jerusalem, A Skull of Connemara, Waiting for Godot, A Girls' War, Yellowman, and Scapin. In 2003, he collaborated with Robbie McCauley and Daniel Alexander Jones in the world premiere of Bel Canto, which was work-shopped at the Sundance Theatre Institute.
As a performer, he is an active member of the New York improv/sketch comedy community, performing regularly at the The Magnet Theater, Upright Citizens Brigade Theater and The People's Improv Theater. His teams include: The Academy and El Partido (Magnet). While living in Boston he was apart of the notable ensemble of Uncle Vanya at the American Repertory Theatre.
Grossman is a graduate of Emerson College with a BFA in Acting. While attending Emerson College, he was a member, and later the President, of the Emerson Comedy Workshop (founded by Denis Leary) where his responsibilities included producing, writing and performing sketch comedy. He was also a member of Mercutio, an Emerson performing arts organization, where he directed and produced various productions which were well acclaimed by the acting faculty. He has paid his theatrical dues in various forms, including working at Dorset Theatre Festival in Vermont as an apprentice where he understudied, performed, assisted in set construction, electrical work, box office, and production assistance.
