Patty Jenkins’ $200-million sequel “Wonder Woman 1984” was slated for June 5, but Warner Bros. has landed on a new date, August 14, which was originally slated for James Wan’s “Malignant.” Moving “Wonder Woman 1984″ to on demand was always a financial nonstarter, because movies that cost more than $100 million need cinemas all over the world to recoup their investment. “Our plan has always been, and still remains, to release WW 1984 in theatres,” Jeff Greenstein, Warner President of Domestic Distribution, wrote in an email.

She was the first TV executive to champion Shonda Rhimes as a series creator. She was “a class act” and “a brilliant executive” in the view of those who worked with Suzanne Patmore Gibbs during her tenures at ABC and Sony Pictures TV.
Many in the TV industry expressed shock at news of the death of Patmore Gibbs, the head of Sony’s TriStar Television banner who died suddenly on Thursday morning. She was 50.
Rhimes, director Paris Barclay and others took to social media to pay tribute to the executive who championed series ranging from “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal” and “Desperate Housewives” to “The Blacklist,” “Masters of Sex,” “Good Girls Revolt,” and “Lost.”
She was my very first champion at ABC Studios, the first exec to say "maybe Shonda could write a TV show." Then she fought like hell to get us the chance to make the Grey's Anatomy pilot.

Ross and Rachel's romance is one for the sitcom history books, and the season-one finale, "The One Where Rachel Finds Out," is a major turning point. After a season of crushing on an oblivious Rachel, Ross heads off for a business trip to China, but not before getting her a special birthday present. She loves the pin and is surprised by Ross's thoughtfulness. "I can't believe he did this," Monica says. "Come on, Ross? Remember back in college, when he fell in love with Carol and bought her that ridiculously expensive crystal duck?" Chandler blurts — and then everything changes. But the episode almost didn't happen that way. In fact, it wasn't even going to be the season finale. Season-one writer and supervising producer Jeff Greenstein explained in an email to Vulture: The original plan called for "The One With the Birth" to be the season-one finale. None of the writers...

Ray Richmond contributes to Deadline’s TCA coverage. During a morning producers panel at TCA that focused on the brave new world of web television, a handful of pros held court to talk about all of the ways the Internet is changing the content game and taking the programming monopoly away from the living room. The five included Jane Espenson and Jeff Greenstein, producers of the Internet sensation Husbands (along with many network series); Mike Rosenstein and Stuart Cornfeld, exec producers of the web reality dating spoof Burning Love; and Ryan Lewis, exec producer of the web series Chosen. The beauty of fledgling form, all agreed, was how freeing the medium is in releasing writers and producers from the tyranny of their network overlords. “We are answerable only to ourselves,” boasted Greenstein, whose credits include Desperate Housewives, Friends and Will & Grace. “Yet we hold ourselves to the same standard as...

A hastily assembled panel this morning of television and film producers now working on digital series turned into one of the most interesting presentations at the TCA press tour so far, one that affirmed that web TV is the closest thing the medium has to an indie scene. Jane Espenson and Jeff Greenstein, the producers of "Husbands," Stuart Cornfeld and Mike Rosenstein, the executive producers of "Burning Love" and Ryan Lewis, the executive producer of "Chosen" were also present to talk about their ongoing online projects. While all of these web series fall under the aegis of a large brand -- "Husband," having been initially funded by Espenson, is now at CW Seed, while "Burning Love" is at Yahoo! and "Chosen" at Crackle -- a theme that came up again and again was the freedom that the medium offered as opposed to network television or studio films. "The problem is...

Amy Acker is a very important actress in my eyes. I came to know her through the works of Joss Whedon, but since then I’ve seen her working on other projects not associated with Whedon and she’s really dazzled me. She’s just so… creepy. When she started recurring on Person of Interest, I thought she was the best thing to ever happen to that series. She has a way of delivering lines that make her seem whimsically detached from reality, as if she were living in her own little world no one else can see. And because I witnessed that performance, I know she’ll be absolutely perfect for the part she’s taken in Husbands.
It’s no surprise Acker has made her way to Husbands, a web series from Jane Espenson and Brad Bell. Through out the shows first two seasons, a number of frequent...

CBS's new fall comedy Partners has run into an odd roadblock: It looks an awful lot like a 1995 Fox sitcom, also called Partners. The old one was written by Will & Grace writer Jeff Greenstein — and the new one is written by Will & Grace co-creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan. Both shows are about architects, one of whom gets engaged on the pilot; both shows feature salty secretaries. And both pilots were directed by James Burrows. (When it debuted in 1995, Partners was criticized for being a Friends knockoff. It lasted one season.) Mutchnick and Kohan downplayed the similarities at the CBS TCA panel yesterday, with Mutchnick saying the overlaps are just an "unfortunate coincidence" and that he'd never seen the nineties show. Plus, on this new Partners, one of the leads is gay, whereas on the old one, one was just lousy with women! It seems pretty...

Ray Richmond contributes to Deadline’s TV coverage. In 1995, Fox premiered a new sitcom entitled Partners that starred Tate Donovan and Jon Cryer as architects and best pals who have an offbeat secretary. In the pilot, one of them gets engaged, tossing their friendship and partnership into jeopardy. That pilot was directed by top sitcom helmer James Burrows. Seventeen years later, CBS this fall will premiere a new sitcom — also entitled Partners — starring David Krumholtz and Michael Urie as architects and best pals with a zany secretary. In the pilot, one of the guys gets engaged, threatening their friendship and partnership. Like its namesake predecessor, it was directed by James Burrows. The similarities between the two projects were front and center at TCA this morning when Partners creators/exec producers David Kohan and Max Mutchnick appeared with their stars to promote their new show. Kohan and Mutchnick essentially dismissed the...

We here at Zap2it noticed something a little strange in looking at the resume of TV legend James Burrows ("Taxi," "Cheers," "Friends") Wednesday morning (May 16) following the CBS upfronts announcement of their new 2012-13 lineup: "Partners," a new comedy for which Burrows directed the pilot, is already on his list of credentials -- a sitcom from 1995 also named "Partners."
And there are more similarities than just Burrows as a director. CBS describes "Partners" as "two life-long best friends and business partners whose 'bromance' is tested when one of them is engaged to be married." The lead characters (played by David Krumholtz and Michael Urie) are architects, and Krumholtz's fiancee is named Ali.
The 1995-96 comedy from Fox is described as "Best friends Bob and Owen work together as aspiring young architects on the rise, their relationship complicated by Owen's recent engagement to Alicia."
Weird, right? Disappointingly, co-creator David Kohan...

Eventful week. To play catch-up:
The big news that every site reported in a slightly different way is that Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome will be a digital series and a TV film, but not a TV show, at least not one produced by Syfy/Universal Cable Prods. You have probably read the Deadline article by now.
With the possibility that Universal may still shop B&C around, it doesn't sound like they have any immediate plans to make more of it beyond the existing pilot/web series/Mow.
No word yet on a release date, but Battlestar Wiki reports that we'll be seeing Blood & Chrome as a web series first and then as a TV movie.
Doug Drexler posted this the other day (full post at the link):
If sets had been built for this show, it would have cost 6 million easily, instead of only the 2 million it did cost,...

Los Angeles — The fate of Nicollette Sheridan and "Desperate Housewives" creator Marc Cherry are in the hands of a different set of viewers than they are accustomed to worrying about – jurors.
Twelve Los Angeles-area residents will enter their second day of deliberations Thursday into Sheridan's claims that she was wrongfully terminated from the show during its fifth series. Her attorneys contend her forced departure from the show was retaliation for her complaining that "Desperate Housewives" creator Marc Cherry hit her during an on-set dispute, but the veteran TV writer's attorney contends it was simply business.
Show business, that is.
Adam Levin, the lead lawyer for Cherry and ABC, focused on testimony during the two-week trial that indicated the decision to kill off Sheridan's Edie Britt character had been made four months before she accused Cherry of hitting her while discussing the scene. Levin argued Cherry's decision was based purely on creative reasons,...

For their day jobs, Jane Espenson and Jeff Greenstein bring hit ABC series to life—Espenson as a writer-producer on the new arrival "Once Upon a Time" and Greenstein as a director on the stalwart "Desperate Housewives." So what would entice these two to work on a webseries whose 11-episode budget probably equals less than the tab for one day's catering on their network shows? Creative freedom and the talent of a man named Cheeks. Cheeks, aka Brad Bell, writes with Espenson and stars in the webseries "Husbands," a comical look at what happens when a famous actor (Cheeks) wakes up in Vegas married to an openly gay baseball player (Sean Hemeon). The result is 11 short, funny, well-produced episodes that could rival many network sitcoms for laughs per second. Back Stage spoke with the trio about their collaboration.Back Stage: How did you become involved with this project?Jane Espenson: We met.

Michael Eisner is back in the mouse house, this time as a TV producer. ABC has bought a period single-camera comedy project that Eisner is executive producing. Set in the 1980s, the untitled comedy, written by Jeff Greenstein, chronicles the early days of celebrity chefs Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger’s unique business partnership and friendship. Former Will & Grace executive producer Greenstein, repped by ICM, is executive producing with Eisner, Noel Bright and Steve Cohen, while Milliken and Feniger serve as producers. Chefs and business partners for over 25 years, Milliken and Feniger own the chain of Border Grill restaurants and its gourmet taco truck offshoot. They star in Food Network’s Too Hot Tamales and have appeared on Bravo’s Top Chef Masters.

Meltdown Comics held the premiere of TV writer and producer Jane Espenson’s latest original web series Husbands last Sunday night as part of the Nerdist Writers Panel series. Audience members were treated to three episodes of the program after a charming, crowd pleasing introduction by Steamy award winning writer/executive producer herself, Jane Espenson (Battlestar Galactica). The show is a unique take on a familiar premise. A couple wakes up in Las Vegas to discover they’re married and stuck together for the rest of their lives (or until they do something like get a hold of this Diy divorce kit). The twist? They are both men and Nevada just made same-sex marriage legal. Now, famous athlete Brady (Sean Hemeon) and actor Cheeks (Brad “Cheeks” Bell) have to navigate married life with constant interruptions from nosy best friend Haley (Alessandra Torresani). NBC and Fox have both unleashed their Fall 2011-2012 TV schedule, now ABC has released theirs. I’m excited to see Castle, Modern Family, and The Middle back in the mix. Most of the new shows they have line-up don’t really interest me, but there are a few that have caught my eye. PanAm is another 1960’s based TV show that will go against AMC’s Mad Men and NBC’s The Playboy Club. There’s a show called Revenge that sounds really interesting, but the new series I’m most excited about is is the fantasy series Once Upon A Time, a show where fairy tales collide with the modern day.
Here is ABC’s full schedule along with a description of all of their shows. Go through them below and let us know what TV series you’re most excited about seeing.

New ABC Family president Michael Riley is making his first new series pickups today, ordering 3 new shows, the Raven Symone comedy The Great State of Georgia and 2 dramas, The Nine Lives of Chloe King and Switched at Birth. The orders to all 3 are for 10 episodes, including the pilot. The Great State of Georgia, from ABC Studios, centers on Georgia (Raven Symone), an exuberant curvy performer from the south, and her science geek best friend Jo (Majandra Delfino) who try to make headway in New York City. The pilot was written by author Jennifer Weiner (In Her Shoes) and Jeff Greenstein (Desperate Housewives). This marks the return to sitcoms for Symone, who made her debut in the genre at age 2 on The Cosby Show. It also brings a companion piece to ABC Family's hot original sitcom Melissa & Joey. With Super Capers hitting select theatres this weekend, I suppose it's a good time to talk about yet another superhero parody that's coming to the small screen in the near future. Once again a U.S. network is mining British TV for ideas, with ABC set to bring a remake of ITV's No Heroics to North America. The series, created by Drew Pearce, focuses on the exploits of a group of costumed superheroes during their off-hours. Freddie Prinze Jr. will star in the American version, along with Paul Campbell, Eliza Coupe and Arielle Kebbel. Apparently they are changing the names of the heroes and their powers, since Campbell will play Chillout, "a Canadian-born superhero who can freeze small objects", while Fpj's character is Ultimatum, an "egotistical Alpha male who has all the women and fame and money a guy could want". I've seen the first couple of episodes from the...

ABC Studios' "Heroics" revolves around four B-list superheroes living among us. Kebbel will play the sweetheart of the group. The pilot, based on the British series of the same name, will also star Paul Campbell and Eliza Coupe. Chatting With … Sri Rao
I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Sri Rao, the former head writer of last year’s best soap opera on either daytime or nighttime television, General Hospital: Night Shift. In addition to discussing his work on that gay-inclusive, critically acclaimed show, Rao also shared his thoughts on the depiction of gay characters in the genre, who should write gay characters, how As the World Turns handled the Luke and Noah storyline, as well as news about a new project very close to his heart.
[While very interesting and worthwhile, this interview is five pages long. To skip directly to this week's In My Humble Opinion, Gool Newsbeat and Scoops And Spoilers click here.]

Sri Rao: No, this was my first foray into the soap opera genre. I had been watching General Hospital for my entire life. I’m a long-time fan of the show so I was very familiar with it.

Great, another British comics invasion, only this time it's on television.
ABC, jazzed from its success transplanting Life On Mars, has okayed a single-camera comedy based on a British series called No Heroics about superheroes with limited powers hanging out in a bar. Jeff Greenstein (Will & Grace) wrote the pilot along with original show creator Drew Pearce. Heidi Macdonald reports:
The UK version is out on DVD for all you all-region peeps, and thanks to Mr. Pearce, we got to sample the show*, which, like many Britcoms, puts its hapless cast into worse and worse social situations where not all their powers can save them. The UK show was quite funny, and featured a zillion in-jokes for anyone who actually reads comics, as well as a dark view of the social pecking order among the long underwear set. Hopefully a Stateside version can retain both elements.

ABC has its sights set on a comedy pilot from a former "Will & Grace" executive producer that has some wondering what the idea will be reminiscent of. The pilot for "No Heroics" features a bunch of superheroes who hang out in a bar, but aren't necessarily known for having amazing powers. It almost sounds a little bit like a cross between "Heroes" and Joss Whedon's Web phenomenon "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog," but actually, it's based on a British series of the same name. The creator of that show, Drew Pearce, is working with Jeff Greenstein to develop the single-camera pilot. "No Heroics" debuted last September as ITV2's first original sitcom. It has aired six episodes so far, and has already received some critical acclaim through a nomination at the British Comedy Awards. ...

The network has greenlighted a single-camera comedy pilot based on the British series.
Written by "Will & Grace" alum Jeff Greenstein and original show creator Drew Pearce, "No Heroics" is about a group of superheroes with less-than-formidable powers who hang out at a bar.
ABC Studios is producing. Greenstein and Pearce are exec producing with Andrew Zein of Tiger Aspect, which produces the British series for ITV.
Icm-repped Greenstein most recently worked on the ABC/ABC Studios dramedy "Desperate Housewives."

In a flurry of pilot activity Monday, producer Jerry Bruckheimer received two drama pilot pickups -- one at NBC for E-Ring and one at the WB Network for an untitled project from writer Jonathan Shapiro. Separately, NBC has given a cast-contingent order to Loved Ones, a comedy from Will & Grace veteran Jeff Greenstein and 3rd Rock From the Sun vet Bob Kushell. Described as The West Wing set at the Pentagon, the defense-themed drama was created by David McKenna and Ken Robinson, a terrorism and military intelligence consultant for CNN and former Green Beret. McKenna, who penned the pilot script, is executive producing with Bruckheimer and Bruckheimer TV chief Jonathan Littman.
