Kate has been working in the entertainment industry nearly all her life appearing in many well loved TV shows, Films and Theatre in Australia and the UK. Daughter of actor parents Reg Gorman and Judith Roberts,
she grew up under a dressing room table and in TV studios. Kate got her first job in TV when she was 6 on
The Sullivans (1976), in which her father played Jack
Fletcher. Kate has worked with family many times; Reg and Kate played father and daughter in A Cry in the Dark (1988) and
she played her mothers granddaughter and her sister's sister in the
stage musical Seven Little Australians.
She started working full time in television at age 15, winning the lead role in Zoo Family (1985). She went from this to Neighbours (1985) playing Sue Parker, a role she recreated nearly 30 years later. Moving
into directing later in her career, her first feature film, Five Moments of Infidelity (2006), which she wrote and directed, won best film at DIGI SPAA
and critics choice at the Salento Film Festival in Italy. Her documentary
The Face of Birth (2012) which she wrote, co-directed, and co-produced has been
translated into 15 languages and distributed in 17 countries. Kate continues to alternate between acting and directing.
Kate is married and has three children. Her eldest daughter, Olivia Deeble, is also an actress.
