Unfortunately, this episode was really quite disappointing on a number of levels that I was literally left wondering what in the world I was just watching. Oi.
I will refrain from complaining any more about squandering what little time is left on Grimm's clock with another Monster-of-the-Week story and instead spend my time on the episode itself.
Perhaps the writers were going for some sort of tragic monster with the Alpe, in the same vein as the Spinnetod from Grimm Season 1 Episode 11, which had to feed on people to survive.
Unfortunately, this fell utterly flat. For one thing, the Alpe was described as feeding on melatonin, a sleep-regulating hormone... which is easily available over the counter in the United States!

Once again directed by Tim Story, who previously worked with Ice Cube on Barbershop and the first film in this series, Ride Along 2 is yet another Ice Cube starring, stereotypical buddy-comedy and like all good buddy comedies it lives and dies by its cast. Last time the chemistry between Kevin Hart and Ice Cube felt stilted and forced, leaving this reviewer a little cold – will it be any different this time round?
Ride Along 2 picks up the story about a year after our heroes’ last adventure. Not content to work as a beat cop, Ben (Hart), a recent academy graduate, now aspires to be a detective like his soon-to-be brother-in-law. However, James (Cube) still doesn’t

Airing on Monday nights of A & E, The Glades features the talents of Passmore, Kiele Sanchez, Carlos Gómez, Uriah Shelton, Jordan Wall, and Michelle Hurd. The TV show's ratings are the best way to tell if it will be cancelled or renewed for a fifth season. These figures will be updated as the weeks progress so be sure to bookmark and return to this page:
Update: A&Amp;E has cancelled The Glades after four seasons.
Final season averages: 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.59 million total viewers.
Episode 04-13: Monday, 08/26/13
0.9 demo rating (+29% change) with 3.41 million (+27%
For those who haven't seen it, The Glades follows a cocky Chicago detective (Matt Passmore) who moves to South Florida in hopes of finding a more relaxing way of life. He finds instead that he's busier than ever. Others in the dramedy's cast include Kiele Sanchez, Carlos Gómez, Uriah Shelton, Jordan Wall, and Michelle Hurd.
Season four of the show averaged 2.59 million viewers, down by 14% when compared to season three's average (3.01 million). It's the lowest-rated of A&E's three scripted dramas but hit a new high with its recent finale and an audience of 3.41 million.
While The Glades was the series to help A&Amp;E establish itself as a channel with scripted content,
“Castle” was named top primetime TV series at the event, held at the Beverly Hilton. Journalist Elizabeth Espinosa hosted the event.
Supporting actor and actress honors went to Carlos Gomez of “The Glades” and Constance Marie of “Switched at Birth.” Entrepeneur and philanthropist Christy Walton won the Imagen Foundation’s President’s Award, while writer/producer Jesus Salvador Trevino received the Lifetime Achievement Award and writing and directing brothers Michael and Gerald Cuesta earned the Norman Lear Writing Award.
“This year, we received 200 entries which really continues to enhance the market value of our community and we are pleased that these creative efforts are once again being acknowledged,” Imagen Foundation prexy Helen Hernandez said.
TVLine confirmed that the Celebrity Apprentice fav has signed on for a rather important guest-starring arc. Henner is scheduled to appear in at least three episodes of A&E’s The Glades to portray Joan Longworth, Jim’s mother. Detective Jim Longworth is of course acted by the crime drama’s star, Matt Passmore.
Daddy Longworth will also be revealed as Psych‘s own Corbin Bernsen show up to play Jim’s dad.
Season 3 of The Glades wrapped up last August, so in case I failed to mention it, all this casting goodness is happening for the upcoming fourth season. During the Season 3 cliffhanger,
Stars: Matt Passmore, Michelle Hurd, Carlos Gómez, Kiele Sanchez, Jordan Wall | Created by Clifton Campbell
“Some say I don’t play well with others. I was a damned good detective in Chicago until a disagreement with my boss encouraged me to pack it up and make a change. So I put the Windy City in my rear view and headed to the Sunshine State to kick back, play some golf, work on my tan, maybe write the occasional speeding ticket. Yeah, well, that didn’t work out.”
The Glades is the latest TV show from prolific producer Clifton Campbell, a man who has been behind some of my favourite TV shows over the years – White Collar, Profiler and Wiseguy – and this show follows in very similar “cop show” traditions. The series is just quirky enough to compete with USA Network shows such as Psych and Burn Notice,
