Lewis E. Gensler
Composer, songwriter ("Will You Remember?," "Love Is Just Around the Corner"), author and producer, educated in high school and a music student of Louis Oesterle. He wrote the Broadway stage scores for "Queen o' Hearts," "Be Yourself," "Captain Jinks," "Queen High," "Ups-a-Daisy" and "Ballyhoo of 1932." Arriving in Hollywood, he wrote for and produced Paramount films, and composed film songs. Joining ASCAP in 1923, his chief musical collaborators included Oscar Hammerstein, IInd, Ira Gershwin, Buddy G. DeSylva, Robert Simon, E.Y. "Yip" Harburg, Leo Robin, Johnny Mercer, and Harlan Thompson. His other popular-song compositions include "Keep Smiling at Trouble," "Fond of You," "Me Without You," "Fatal Fascination," "It's A Great Life," "When You Are in My Arms," "Boys Will Be Boys," "Old Man Rhythm," "I Never Saw a Better Night," "Cross Your Heart," "Thrill Me," "Falling Off the Wagon," "Riddle Me This," "Ups-a-Daisy" and "You Need Someone."
