Urban Gad was born on 12 February 1879 in Korsør, Denmark. He was a director and writer, known for The Devil's Assistant (1913), Das Feuer (1914) and The Call of the Child (1914). He was married to Esther Burgert Westenhagen and Asta Nielsen. He died on 26 December 1947 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
