John Gabriel was born on May 25, 1931 in Niagara Falls, New York, USA as Jack Monkarsh. He was an actor and producer, known for Ryan's Hope (1975), El Dorado (1966) and The Hunters (1958). He was married to Sandy Gabriel. He died on June 11, 2021 in the USA.

John Gabriel played the "Professor" in the unaired pilot of Gilligan's Island (1964). This pilot also has a different theme song, composed by John Williams.
Father of actresses Melissa Gabriel and Andrea Gabriel.
Not to be confused with older UK character actor John Gabriel who worked during the same years in British films and television.
His father was born in then-Mandatory Palestine, now Israel, to Polish Jewish parents. His mother was of Polish Jewish/Russian Jewish descent.
