    It is often erroneously stated that French is the father of Ted French and, therefore, the grandfather of Victor French, who was Ted's son. Although they shared the same last name, Charles French was not related to Ted French. They were, however, good friends, and Charles considered Victor French his "adopted" grandson, which is most likely how the confusion started.
