Mini Bio (1)
With 108 episodes of Paramount Pictures' highly successful action-adventure series "MacGyver", and 90 episodes of Canada's longest running television program "The Beachcombers" among his many producing credits, Robert Frederick is one of British Columbia's most experienced and respected film and television producers.
A graduate of the University of British Columbia, Frederick also received a Master of Fine Arts from New York University before joining the CBC in 1979. While at CBC he produced and directed several dramatic and documentary series, including "Ritter's Cove", which was an international co-production with Beta Taurus in Germany and Global in London.
From the CBC, he moved to Paramount Picture's "MacGyver" where he acted as a production executive and producer. During his involvement on the production, he also found the time to raise the entire financing to produce the critically acclaimed independent feature film, "The First Season".
Frederick has since established his own production company under the banner MVP Entertainment Inc., through which he developed and financed "Lifeline"; an official treaty co-production between France and Canada, shot in the south of France. In 1997 Mr. Frederick and MVP produced the pilot for "Dead Man's Gun" in association with Showtime and Disney, on which he remained as an executive consultant until 2000.
In 2004 he and MVP released the independent feature "The Wild Guys" in theatres. Based on the immensely popular stage play, "The Wild Guys" has had tremendous success on the film festival circuit, winning best picture at both the California Independent Film Festival and the World Of Comedy International Film Festival in Toronto, and making the Official Selection at the Newport Beach Film Festival, the San Fernando Valley Film Festival, the Montreal World Film Festival, the Calgary International Film Festival and the Ojai Film Festival.
Frederick works primarily out of Vancouver, British Columbia and has recently obtained the rights to writer Malcolm MacRury's "Ranger" and Douglas Coupland's best selling novel "Generation X: Tales For An Accelerated Culture". He is developing both as feature films.
