‘Eloise’ Review

Stars: Chace Crawford, Robert Patrick, Eliza Dushku, Nicole Forester, P.J. Byrne, Brandon T. Jackson | Written by Christopher Borrelli | Directed by Robert Legato

We seem to be in the middle of a spate of hospital-based horror at the moment, with both this film, Eloise, and the retitled The Hospital (aka The Linda Vista Project), hitting DVD here in the UK within a matter of weeks; and there’s even more to come…

Eloise sees Jacob Martin’s (Crawford) father pass away, committing suicide, leaving him a considerable inheritance… Only there’s a catch: Jacob must first prove his aunt is dead. Apparently succumbed at the great fire of the Eloise Asylum, Jacob’s aunt’s death certificate is tied up in a legal quagmire. Desperate for money Jacob’s friend Dell (Jackson) suggests they break into the abandoned institution in hopes of finding a death certificate. Enlisting the help of Scott

It is Time to Put on Your Straight-jacket with this Trailer for Eloise

Another horror film is set in another insane asylum. This time, the film is titled Eloise. The film is from director Robert Legato and writer Christopher Borrelli (The Vatican Tapes). Eloise joins a long list of horror films set in mental health institutions, including: Session 9 (2001), Psych 9 (2010), Blackburn (2015), and dozens of others. This time, the film was shot in one of the largest institutions, the Eloise Insane Asylum. Involving a death certificate and a large inheritance, the film's first trailer shows four friends, attacked by the hospital's supernatural past. The film hosts a recognizable cast. Eliza Dushku and Robert Patrick both star in this 2017 release. Dushku has appeared in several horror films, such as the cannibal thriller Wrong Turn (2003) and Open Graves (2009), while Patrick has starred in the recent Hellions (2015). The film hosts a large cast, which also includes: Chace Crawford and Nicole Forester. Fans of horror can see this diverse cast in early.

‘The Wicked’ Review

Stars: Devon Werkheiser, Nicole Forester, Caitlin Carmichael, Justin Deeley, Cassie Keller | Written by Michael Vickerman | Directed by Peter Winther

“Season of the Equinox, the witch besets her kill; one less soul in the town to know, taken against their will.”

A urban legend that nearly every child in the small town of Summerset has heard; a story passed down from generation to generation that offers just enough chills to keep the legend alive. However it seems the legend may be rooted in truth as seven year old Amanda Drake is swiped from her bedroom window. Always up for a good fright, 18 year old Zach and his friends decide to sneak into the woods and find the mysterious “Open Hearth”, the old house in the woods that once belonged to the witch. Unbeknown to Zach, his younger brother Max and his girlfriend Sammy sneak along. They all soon discover that folklore

The Wicked (Witch) Needs Stronger Film Magic: A Movie Review

Director: Peter Winther. Writer: Michael Vickerman. Cast: Devon Werkheiser, Nicole Forester, Caitlin Carmichael, Diana Hopper and Cassie Keller. The Wicked is a horror title set for release through Image Entertainment. This direct-to-home video film focuses on urban legends and witchcraft. Apparently, Ladeanne Larene, the witch, has been killing kids near Bogie Lake for sometime. And, several local youths are barely up to the task of stopping her. Well shot and acted, The Wicked does not add much excitement to the witch horror genre. And, there have been a few witch stories to set the pace in this genre. The Craft (1996) was a film that brought teen angst to the screen. This film had a compelling edge, with compelling performances. The Blair Witch Project (1999) was another film that stands out in this sub-genre. Directors Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez's film was successful for not showing much of the horror onscreen.
