Hungarian writer, journalist, playwright, screenwriter. He completed his secondary school and university studies in Budapest. He first studied medicine and then changed to journalism. At first he wrote short stories and novels. In the footsteps of Ferenc Molnár, he constructed his stage works with excellent technique and effectively, and he also had success abroad. From 1932, he wrote screenplays for several Holywood films. He lived in Vienna and, after the annexation of Austria, left it in March 1938 because of his Jewish origins. He first went to France, from where he emigrated to the United States. He returned to Europe in the 1950s and settled in West Germany, where he took part in German film productions.

He married Rózsa Faludi, on February 21, 1920 and divorced a year later. His second spouse was Etelka Borbála Jagasich, whom she married on November 5, 1923 in, Budapest, and divorced in 1928.
