2018 Daytime Emmy reels: Lucas Adams (‘Days of Our Lives’) vows to avenge his mother’s death [Watch]
The 2018 Daytime Emmy Awards will be handed out on April 29, but winners have already been decided in the drama acting categories by blue ribbon panels that viewed sample performance reels. That includes the race for Best Younger Actor, were Lucas Adams has earned his first nomination for playing Tripp Dalton on “Days of Our Lives.” Will he win for scenes in which he vows revenge against those responsible for his mother’s death?

Adams’s 15 minutes worth of scenes actually include two storylines. In one he’s suspicious of Kate (Lauren Koslow) when she comes asking for a cell phone belonging to Theo, who has just been shot. She may be trying to access the phone to delete evidence of illegal activity she doesn’t want exposed. Tripp reluctantly hands over the phone, and even tricks Theo’s girlfriend into revealing Theo’s password.

But the storyline that accounts for

  • Gold Derby
The 45th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards nominations honoring the best in daytime television were announced on Wednesday, March 21, live on the CBS talk show “The Talk.” Winners will be revealed during the Creative Arts Daytime Emmys on April 27, followed by the main ceremony on Sunday, April 29. So who made the cut for these awards? Scroll down for the complete list.

The Daytime Emmy Awards cover a wide variety of programming including soap operas, talk shows, game shows, children’s shows, animation and more. In recent years the awards have also expanded into the online streaming realm, just like their primetime counterparts, so digital drama series and programs from Netflix and Amazon are also represented.

The awards for dramatic acting are unique as they undergo an extra pre-nominations phase of voting. TV academy members watched short sample clips of all entrants for lead and supporting awards. The top 10 vote-getters in each category became the pre-nominees,

Daytime Emmys 2018: Will Marci Miller (‘Days of Our Lives’) pick up where Emmy winner Kate Mansi left off in the role of Abigail?

Daytime Emmys 2018: Will Marci Miller (‘Days of Our Lives’) pick up where Emmy winner Kate Mansi left off in the role of Abigail?
Kate Mansi won the Daytime Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in 2017 for playing Abigail Deveraux in “Days of Our Lives,” but that was after she had already left the show in 2016. The role was taken over later that year by Marci Miller, who is now pre-nominated for the first time for Best Actress. Can she pick up where Mansi left off?

It’s not uncommon for multiple actors to win Emmys for the same role. Just last year Gina Tognoni won Best Actress for playing Phyllis on “The Young and the Restless” after that role had won two Emmys for her previous portrayer Michelle Stafford. “Y&R” also had two Emmy winners as the characters of Billy Abbott (David Tom and Billy Miller) and Victoria Newman (Heather Tom and Amelia Heinle). There have also been two actors to win for playing “General Hospital’s” Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson and Jacob Young

Daytime Emmys 2018: Eileen Davidson could make history with nominations for Both ‘Days of Our Lives’ & ‘The Young and the Restless’
Dual roles are par for the course on daytime dramas; numerous actors have won Daytime Emmys for portraying twins, doppelgangers or multiple personalities. But Eileen Davidson took that one step further in 2017. She’s pre-nominated for playing multiple roles — and on multiple shows. She appeared on both “Days of Our Lives” and “The Young and the Restless,” so she could make history by earning two nominations in one year.

Davidson has been soap-hopping for decades. She first played Ashley Abbott on “Y&R” from 1982 to 1988. Then she played Kelly Capwell on “Santa Barbara” from 1991 to the show’s cancellation in 1993. She jumped ship to “Days” in 1993 and spent five years playing multiple outlandish roles, including the devious Kristen Blake and her lookalike Susan Banks. These were the roles that finally earned her her first career Emmy nomination, for Best Actress in 1998.

In 1999 she bounced back to “Y&R” and stayed
