IMDbProStarmeterSee rank
Edward Ettinger (also known as Ed and Eddie) was a prolific writer. Over the course of his career, he wrote radio shows ("Big Town" starring Edward G. Robinson), movies ("The Man Who Wouldn't Talk" and several Charlie Chan movies), quips for Al Jolson's stage shows, TV ("Name that Tune"), and hundreds of magazine articles, including pulp titles such as "Some Dames are Poison" for Off-Beat Detective Stories. He also wrote for ladies magazines under pseudonyms such as Ella Ettinger. It is family history that Ed Ettinger was the actual writer of "Who's On First?" He wrote the skit for two obscure comedians who later sold it outright to Abbott and Costello for a modest sum of money.
