Billy Engle was born on May 26, 1889 in Czernowitz, Bukovina, Austria as Maurice Braun. He was an actor and writer, known for Oh, Mummy! (1927), Westward Whoa! (1925) and Daze of the West (1927). He was married to Eva. He died on November 28, 1966 in Hollywood, California, USA.

Burlesque actor.
Entered films in 1919 and appeared in Christie comedies during the 1920's.
He appeared in three Best Picture Academy Award winners: It Happened One Night (1934), Mrs. Miniver (1942) and The Best Years of Our Lives (1946). He also appeared in two other Best Picture nominees Test Pilot (1938) and Friendly Persuasion (1956).
