Stage actor, later a director, he was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and took a step down in the movie business by starting as a prop boy. Later worked as a director of two-reel comedies for Nestor, Universal, Kalem, Fox and National Film. From 1924, he helmed some of the best films made by
Harry Langdon.
