‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ Aiming for 15 Seasons to Break Television Comedy Record, Says Charlie Day

“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” has been on the air since August 2005, running 12 seasons thus far and 134 episodes and counting. Fxx has already committed to two more seasons of the cult comedy series, which will bring “It’s Always Sunny” to a record-tying 14th season. The ABC sitcom “The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet” is the only other live-action comedy series to run for 14 seasons, but the “It’s Always Sunny” team is not content on just tying a record.

Speaking to The Wrap at the Hollywood premiere of his new film, “Hotel Artemis,” Charlie Day revealed that the Fxx series is aiming for at least one additional season in order to break the record for longest running live-action comedy series. “It’s Always Sunny” is only renewed through Season 14, so a fifteenth season is not a guarantee at the moment, although Day assured fans that his cast and

Charlie Day: ‘Always Sunny’ Aiming for 15 Seasons, Fans ‘Should Feel Hopeful’ for Glenn Howerton’s Return (Exclusive)
Charlie Day says he and the other stars of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” are hoping the show will go for 15 seasons, which would make it the longest-running live-action sitcom in history. He also said “fans should feel hopeful” they’ll see more of Glenn Howerton’s Dennis, despite his goodbye at the end of Season 12.

TheWrap spoke with Day at Saturday night’s premiere of “Hotel Artemis,” in which he plays a sleazy, entitled arms dealer hiding out in a secret hospital for criminals during a massive riot through Los Angeles. With all of his film work recently, we asked him how long we’ll keep getting new seasons of “Always Sunny” on Fxx.

“You definitely get Season 13, which we’re making right now, and Season 14, which we’re contracted to do, and then beyond that, it’ll be up to FX,” he said. “But I think 15 is the record for a comedy,

Mac and Rooster Teeth Team for Animated Slasher Series Spikeface

One of my favorite non-horror shows out there is FX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. That series is run by a group of guys named Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton and their production company is fittingly called Rcg. Well, Variety reports Rcg just sold anew dark-comedy animated project to Rooster Teeth called Spikeface. […]

‘It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia’ Star Rob McElhenney To Bring Horror-Comedy To Rooster Teeth

Digital studio Rooster Teeth has announced a content deal with one of its most notable partners yet. The Austin-based media company will team up with Rob McIlhenney, best known as the co-creator and co-star of the FX sitcom It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, for a horror-comedy titled Spikeface.

Spikeface will tell the story of a "horror icon" who agitates his equally devilish roommates after choosing to adopt the orphaned child of a couple he kills. That sounds like the sort of dark premise that will appeal to fans of It's Always Sunny, which has displayed its own black comedy sensibilities across a dozen seasons. McElhenney is serving as executive producer of Spikeface through Rcg, the studio he founded alongside It's Always Sunny co-stars Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton.

Fox 2018-2019 Programming Slate Revealed

On Monday, Fox unveiled the network's primetime slate for the 2018-2019 television season during its annual Programming Presentation at the Beacon Theatre.

"This year, we launched four of the Top 10 new shows on broadcast, which led to a very strong roster of young series returning for their sophomore seasons. That gives us tremendous momentum heading into the fall," said Newman and Walden. "With our increased investment in football, we're going to use the powerful platform of the NFL to launch our new comedies. We'll then take some big swings with dramas at midseason, which is a proven strategy for Fox."

The new comedies joining the lineup this fall are Rel and The Cool Kids. Inspired by the life of Lil Rel Howery, Rel is a multi-camera comedy starring Howery as a loving husband and father living in Chicago, who finds out his wife is having an affair, and must rebuild

‘Lucifer’ Canceled, ‘The X-Files’ Won’t Be Back, But More ‘Prison Break’ and ’24’ Reboots in the Works: Fox Execs Explain All
The X-Files” have been closed again — at least for now. Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn confirmed on Monday that there are no plans to do another season at the moment.

The news doesn’t come as a complete surprise, as star Gillian Anderson has previously said she was saying farewell to the show. On the “Prison Break” front, Fox is moving forward on another revival, although that is still “in the early stages of development. We’re focusing on getting the next iteration right.” There’s no immediate announcement. Ditto “24,” as executive producer Howard Gordon is developing new ideas, including one with original creators Joel Surnow and Bob Cochran.

As for the decision to cancel “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” Fox TV Group chairman Dana Walden said the decision was “based on a variety of factors,” including the fact that the addition of Thursday Night Football limited their shelf space, “and we didn
