Alene Dawson has worked on Broadway, off-Broadway and in major theaters
across the country. Roles include several Shakespearean favorites such
as Hero, Titania, Ophelia, Juliet and others. She was Estrella in the
original production of Oscar-nominated Jose Rivera's adaptation of
Sueno, Annarose in the original production of Fire's Daughters directed
by Emmy and Tony-nominated writer Ntozake Shange and was also in the
Atlantic Theatre's production of Edmund written by Pulitzer
Prize-winning David Mamet and twice Belle/Lily in A Christmas Carol by
Charles Dickens.
Ms. Dawson is currently an experienced and accomplished writer and journalist who has written for prestigious national and international award winning publications. She has interviewed Oscar and Emmy award-winning and nominated actors, directors, producers, writers, choreographers and production designers, Grammy nominated musicians, Gold Medal Olympians, world-renown taste-makers, scientists, politicians and professors who are forging into the new millennium via ground breaking discoveries and inventions.
Her own personal stories and essays have been published in magazines with circulations of more than a million and she's also delved into the world of television and new media writing.
She believes that everyone has an interesting story to tell and fuses her on-camera, new media and print expertise to bring to life the big and small moments in life. The publications she's written for include the Los Angeles Times, Elle, Marie Claire, Glamour,InStyle.com, Town & Country, Essence, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, The Chicago Tribune, Fodor's Travel, CNN, MSN and others. She wrote the syndicated Beauty and Health column "Hey Gorgeous!" and is working on her first book.
Miss Dawson is the grand-niece of long-time Chicago Congressman William L. Dawson,former national chairman of the Committee on Expenditures in Executive Departments who also served on the Committee on Government Operations.
