Stringer Davis was born on June 4, 1899 in Birkenhead, Cheshire, England as James Buckley Stringer Davis. He was an actor, known for Murder She Said (1961), Murder Most Foul (1964) and Murder at the Gallop (1963). He was married to Margaret Rutherford. He died on August 29, 1973 in Chalfont St. Giles, Buckinghamshire, England.

Stringer Davis was married to Margaret Rutherford, an actress who portrayed Miss Marple in several Agatha Christie movies from 1961 to 1965. Mr. Davis almost always played a character they called "Mr. Stringer." Mr. Stringer was not really a character in any of Agatha Christie's novels, but he was written in as a favor to Ms. Rutherford.
Confessed to his wife, Dame Margaret Rutherford, that he was hopelessly infatuated with Sir John Gielgud. Apparently the infatuation was unrequited.
Gentle-mannered English character player in small parts. He played 'Mr. Stringer' opposite his wife, Margaret Rutherford, in her cinema outings as the Agatha Christie character 'Miss Jane Marple'. Appeared in other Rutherford films as well.
