Ragini Mms Movie Review

Ekta Kapoor is back to giving the audience what they want and delivering it in style. The writer-producer powerhouse’s latest offering is directed by 1920 – Evil Returns’ director Bhushan Patel. No doubt the leading lady of the film needs no introduction, the one and only Sunny Leone. However, apart from Sunny the film boasts of an intriguing cast ensemble consisting of Divya Dutta, Parvin Dabas, Sandhya Mridul, newcomer Saahil Prem and Karan Mehra. Sequel to the 2011 surprise blockbuster starring Kainaz Motivala and Rajkumar Rao, Ragini Mms 2 follows the storyline of the first instalment.

Sunny Leone plays herself, an ex-porn film star who has now entered mainstream Indian cinema. She’s cast by the flamboyant Rocks (Parvin Dabas) in his screen adaptation of the Ragini Mms incident. Despite clear warnings by the Archaeological Society of India outside the mansion where the Ragini Mms incident took place, Rocks insists on using

Review: Jalpari (The Desert Mermaid)

Review: Jalpari (The Desert Mermaid)
Director: Nila Madhab Panda, Writer: Deepak Venkateshan, Actors: Lehar Khan, Krishang Trivedi, Harsh Mayar, Parvin Dabas etc.

Nila Madhab Panda deserves accolades for presenting an issue-based film in an entertaining and gripping manner. Jalpari, based on the issue of female foeticide, maintains a fine balance and never goes overboard preaching the cause. In fact, it weaves it cleverly into an adventure thriller which successfully drives the message home and is palatable to children and adults alike.

Shreya Singh is the tomboyish protagonist of the film who is brave, imaginative and adventurous. She goes on a holiday to her ancestral village with her father, grandmother and younger brother. Shreya, after performing a mermaid dance in school, is on a quest for a pond in the village where she can swim like a mermaid. But her ancestral village is one marred with severe scarcity: of water and women. Sources of water have

Film: "Jalpari: The Desert Mermaid"; Cast: Parvin Dabas, Suhasini Mulay, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Harsh Mayar, Lehar Khan and Krishang Trivedi; Director: Nila Madhab Panda; Rating: ***

There is a fascinating play of light and shade in Deepak Venkateshan's screenplay. It.
