Was signed to the Major League Baseball Pittsburgh Pirates in 1952, using his signing bonus to pay for his wife Matilda's diamond engagement ring. He never actually made it to the "big leagues," having been injured (stuck by a pitch in the back of his head) while in the Pirate's minor league system. See more »
