Channel 5 Takes Kiefer Sutherland's 'Designated Survivor' for U.K.

Channel 5 has picked up two new drama series for the U.K. from Entertainment One, licensing ABC's political thriller Designated Survivor, starring Kiefer Sutherland, and Canadian crime procedural The Detail, starring Angela Griffin, Wendy Crewson and Shenae Grimes-Beech.

The Designated Survivor deal is a rarity as Netflix already carries the show in the UK, and worldwide outside of North America and it is uncommon for a free-tv network in a major territory like the U.K. to license a show already available online.

The Detail, which airs on CTV in Canada, is a 10-part ensemble drama centered on a trio of...

Trailer For Netflix's Road Trip Film Kodachrome with Jason Sudeikis, Ed Harris and Elizabeth Olsen

"No art worth a damn was ever created out of happiness, I can tell you that much."

Netflix has released a trailer for their upcoming film Kodachrome. The story centers on an estranged father and son who embark on a road trip to Kansas to develop some old photos at Kodak's last Kodachrome lab before it closes down.Ed Harris and Jason Sudeikis play the father and son and they are joined by Elizabeth Olsen, who plays a nurse. It looks like an entertaining well-made heartfelt film. It feels like this is a love letter to film and the days when that film needed to be developed by places like Kodachrome. It looks like a really good movie and I'll definitly be checking it out. Here's the synopsis:

Matt Ryder (Sudeikis) is convinced to drive his estranged and dying father Benjamin Ryder (Harris) cross country to deliver four old

Ed Harris & Jason Sudeikis in Official Trailer for Netflix's 'Kodachrome'

"No art worth a damn was ever created out of happiness, I can tell you that much." Netflix has debuted the trailer for an indie titled Kodachrome, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last year. Based on an article by A.G. Sulzberger, the film is about a father and son who take a road trip to Kansas in order to develop photos at Kodak's last Kodachrome lab before it closes its doors forever. It's set during the final days of the admired photo development system known as Kodachrome, with production finishing in 2010. This is clearly a love letter to the art of film and developing film and the days of film, but wrapped around the engaging story of a fun road trip. Kodachrome stars Jason Sudeikis, Ed Harris, Elizabeth Olsen, Wendy Crewson, Bruce Greenwood, and Dennis Haysbert. This looks quite good, it's worth a watch. Here's the first

Tom Hanks' film debut was a drama about Dungeons & Dragons

Ryan Lambie Mar 29, 2017

Mazes And Monsters provided the first feature role for a young Tom Hanks in 1982 - and warned against the perils of Dungeons & Dragons...

Where there's great popularity, there's sometimes an equal and opposite backlash. Pokemon has occasionally been accused of promoting everything from Satanism to animal cruelty. The book Why Knock Rock, published in 1984, warned of the morally corrosive dangers hidden in the music of Judas Priest, Kiss and Led Zeppelin.

Before all this, there was the moral panic surrounding Dungeons & Dragons. From humble beginnings, the role-playing game quickly became a phenomenon in the 1970s, taking the company behind it - Tactical Studies Rules, founded by Gary Gygax - from a tiny cottage industry to a 600-strong firm by the end of the decade.

Dungeons & Dragons' brilliance lies in its freeform design; with only a few raw materials - dice, counters, a rulebook - the game conjures

Anne Hathaway to Lead ‘Live Fast Die Hot’, Elizabeth Olsen Joins ‘Kodachrome,’ and More

Soon to be seen in Nacho Vigalondo‘s highly-anticipated Colossal at Tiff, and next year in the upcoming Ocean’s Eight alongside a massive cast, Anne Hathaway has another project in her sights. She’s signed on to star in and produce an adaptation of Jenny Mollen‘s novel Live Fast Die Hot according to Variety, which is not a cross-over spin-off on the Die Hard and Fast & Furious series.

The actress had been linked to “Kodachrome” before the Cannes Film Festival, but producers had not confirmed her involvement with the project until Friday. Shooting is starting this week in Toronto.

Mark Raso (“Copenhagen”) is directing from a script by Jonathan Tropper. The film is based on A.G. Sulzberger’s 2010 New York Times article “For Kodachrome Fans, Road Ends at Photo Lab in Kansas” about a father and son who take a road trip to Kansas in order to develop photographs at Kodak’s last Kodachrome lab before it closes its doors for good.

Producers are Tropper; Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Eric Robinson; 21 Laps Entertainment’s Dan Levine and Shawn Levy; and Leon Clarance of Motion Picture Capital, which is fully financing. Jo Monk and Dan Cohen are executive producing.

Elizabeth Olsen Joins Ed Harris For Road Trip Drama Kodachrome

During her downtime from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Elizabeth Olsen tends to fill her slate with a host of intriguing projects. Coming off the barnstorming Age of Ultron, it was musical drama I Saw the Light that offered the actress some respite from superhero fare last year and, in continuing that trend, Olsen has lined up the likes of Ingrid Goes West, Wind River and now Kodachrome, a road trip drama hailing from director Mark Raso (Copenhagen).

The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop, confirming that the actress has joined Ed Harris and Jason Sudeikis in the feature, one the centers on “a record label boss who embarks on a road trip across the U.S. in order to fulfill his father’s dying wish and have a roll of Kodachrome film developed, only to find there’s just one remaining shop accepting them.”

With Bruce Greenwood, Dennis Haysbert and Wendy Crewson also on board,
