Tex Cooper was born as Judge Thomas Cooper in Denton, Texas, the son of Wilford Cooper and Lemon Pair. Tex had siblings Walter and George Cooper. His parents were farmers and hailed from Bradley County, Tennessee. Tex's trademark in the movies was his Buffalo Bill lookalike appearance. His grandfather was Thomas Cooper who married Martha Rucker and his great grandparents were Bennett and Lydia Cooper from North Carolina.

    Cooper's "claim to fame" was that he bore a strong resemblance to--and dressed as--Buffalo Bill Cody, aka "Buffalo Bill" Cody. Cooper, in fact, actually worked for Cody in his Wild West Show starting in 1892 and traveled throughout the US and Europe with the show.
