Frank Capra's classic Christmas movie It's A Wonderful Life, which starred Jimmy Stewart, is getting a sequel after all these years. I really enjoyed this film. I watch it every year, and I never thought I would see a sequel to it, but it's actually happening.
The sequel will be called It’s A Wonderful Life: The Rest of the Story, and producers are trying to get the movie into theaters for the 2015 holiday season. It seems like a weird title, but here are some details on the film from Variety,
Karolyn Grimes, who played George Bailey’s daughter “Zuzu” in the original, will return for the “Wonderful Life” sequel as an angel who shows Bailey’s unlikeable grandson (also named George Bailey) how much better off the world would have been had he never been born.
Grimes, of course, bellowed the iconic line, “Every time a bell rings,...

Sixty-seven years after Clarence got his wings, a sequel has been announced for It’s a Wonderful Life. Frank Capra’s 1946 movie, in which an idealistic but desperate family man (Jimmy Stewart) imagines his town if he’d never been born, is a beloved holiday classic. Generations have grown up watching George Bailey spend his life helping others, only to find himself suicidal and wanted by the police after a financial calamity at the family’s ol’ savings and loan. To keep him from jumping off a bridge, an angel-in-training named Clarence shows him that all his good deeds haven’t been in vain.

The surprising sequel will even be bringing back a few of the original cast members -- most notably Karolyn Grimes, who played Zuzu in the original -- who will now appear as an angel who shows George Bailey's grandson (also named George Bailey) how much better off the world would have been had he never been born.

Star Partners and Hummingbird Prods. are teaming up to produce a sequel to Frank Capra's iconic 1946 film classic "It’s a Wonderful Life".
The original film followed George Bailey (Jimmy Stewart), a troubled family man whose near-suicide on Christmas Eve brings on the intervention of his guardian angel.
The follow-up is entitled "It's A Wonderful Life: The Rest of the Story" and follows George Bailey, the unlikeable grandson of the original George.
In this version the guardian angel shows the new George how much better off the world would have been had he never been born. Karolyn Grimes, who played the daughter 'Zuzu' in the original, will play the angel.
Original cast members Jimmy Hawkins and Carol Coombs are said to be in talks to reprise their roles, but the casting of the lead won't take place until February. A director is also being sought.

It's been close to 60 years since the release of "It's a Wonderful Life," but the beloved holiday classic is gearing up for a sequel.
Variety reports that the follow-up will be titled "It's A Wonderful Life: The Rest of the Story," and focus on the grandson of George Bailey (Jimmy Stewart), also named George Bailey. But unlike the 1946 flick, in which a guardian angel showed a suicidal Bailey the positive impact he had on others' lives, the present-day Bailey, described as "unlikeable," will instead be shown "how much better off the world would have been had he never been born."
While that sounds pretty bleak for an allegedly feel-good family film, those involved with the sequel say the movie will closely mirror its predecessor.
"The storyline of the new film retains the spirit of the original -- every life is important as long as you have friends," said co-writer Bob Farnsworth.

Doris Day movies: TCM’s ‘Summer Under the Stars 2013′ lineup continues (photo: Doris Day in ‘Calamity Jane’ publicity shot) Doris Day, who turned 89 last April 3, is Turner Classic Movies’ 2013 “Summer Under the Stars” star on Friday, August 2. (Doris Day, by the way, still looks great. Check out "Doris Day Today.") Doris Day movies, of course, are frequently shown on TCM. Why? Well, TCM is owned by the megaconglomerate Time Warner, which also happens to own (among myriad other things) the Warner Bros. film library, which includes not only the Doris Day movies made at Warners from 1948 to 1955, but also Day’s MGM films as well (and the overwhelming majority of MGM releases up to 1986). My point: Don’t expect any Doris Day movie rarity on Friday — in fact, I don’t think such a thing exists. Doris Day is ‘Calamity Jane’ If you haven’t watched David Butler’s musical...
