Stephen Colbert Is Excited for ‘Stories About Donald Trump Doing Sex’ from Karen McDougal (Video)

Stephen Colbert Is Excited for ‘Stories About Donald Trump Doing Sex’ from Karen McDougal (Video)
It’s been a relatively quiet week in the world of Donald Trump, but “quiet” for Donald Trump isn’t actually all that quiet by normal standards. The last few days of jokes at his expense by late night hosts tells me that the big Trump stories of the moment that aren’t going anywhere no matter what Trump does at this point are the Michael Cohen situation and the sex stuff.

Colbert talked about both of those things in his “Late Show” monologue Thursday night, and for this post I’m choosing to focus on the sex stuff because it’s ultimately less depressing — it’s as close to comic relief as any Trump-related story can be these days. Also Colbert’s uncertain enthusiasm for the story is genuinely amusing.

As part of his discussion of Karen McDougal being freed from her Nda and now being legally allowed to say whatever she wants about her affair with Trump, Colbert interrupted his monologue to bring us a new segment, dubbed “What Have We Become?”

“The women that Cohen worked so hard to keep quiet are now getting out of their agreements, like former Playboy model Karen McDougal, who claims to have had a ten-month affair with Donald Trump, has just settled a lawsuit with the owner of the National Enquirer to keep her from publicly discussing the relationship. Great! Now she can finally tell us more stories about Donald Trump doing sex? Yay? Which leads me to my new segment, ‘Stephen Colbert’s What Have We Become?’ ” Colbert said, as a graphic appeared on screen with the segment title and a bunch of question marks.

“Tonight on ‘What Have We Become?’ — if I had told you five years ago that we would be champing at the bit to get stories about Donald trump’s naked, sweaty body wreaking havoc on a hotel duvet, you would have said, ‘No way! Now let’s watch ‘Sharknado.’ They’re only going to make one of these!’ Yes, back then it was a time of primal innocence, and we took it for granted!” Colbert said.

“Now all of America lives behind the beaded curtain at a video store. And it don’t smell so good. All that being said, give me them stanky, stanky anecdotes! I’m a super freak, and it feels good to be bad!”

James Comey Talks to Stephen Colbert about Clinton Emails, Trump Tweets, and Pee Tape

The attack is on in full when it comes to Trump when Stephen Colbert talks to James Comey about Clinton emails, Trump tweets, and the infamous Pee tape. So far the shots that have been fired have been noted but not much damage has been done, if any. But honestly it’s all been pretty funny. Unfortunately for both sides the back and forth battle of words has been doing little more than entertaining for the rest of us and infuriating for those that are willing to go to any length to defend the Potus while he tweets in the corner

Gwyneth Paltrow and Stephen Colbert Are Selling Goop-Like Products to Raise Money for Public Schools

After Gwyneth Paltrow and Stephen Colbert hawked a slew of fake products — including a $900 loofah — on a January episode of The Late Show in a bit mocking Paltrow's lifestyle platform, Goop, the two have reunited to sell real products.

Colbert dedicated a portion of Wednesday's show to what he called America's "educational crisis," explaining the nationwide lack of public school funding. In an effort to support schools via DonorsChoose.org, he and Paltrow are selling products like a set of five "Dream Twigs," made from "self-actualized wood that volunteered to become pencils," and a <a href="https://shop.goop.com/shop/products/softbound-reincarnated-forest"...

How Eric Trump and Wife Lara Became the Most Normal, Least Controversial Trump Couple

How Eric Trump and Wife Lara Became the Most Normal, Least Controversial Trump Couple
Eric Trump may be the butt of a lot of late-night TV jokes, but in reality he appears to be doing something right. While his father and older siblings are mired in controversy, the 34-year-old Trump Organization executive has largely avoided the more serious speculation plaguing the family, about possible collusion with Russia or money laundering, or obstruction of justice. Even if you specifically Google "Eric Trump prison" or "Trump sons prison," all you see are stories about Donald Trump Jr. and their brother-in-law Jared Kushner. "I'd like to apologize to Eric Trump," Stephen Colbert said on The Late Show one night after a particularly fraught news day for Don Jr....

Colbert Has a ‘Fun Fact’ for Trump: ‘Not All Women Are Under Legally Binding Agreements About What They Can Say’ (Video)

Colbert Has a ‘Fun Fact’ for Trump: ‘Not All Women Are Under Legally Binding Agreements About What They Can Say’ (Video)
One of the bigger topics of the week that Stephen Colbert decided to talk about in his “Late Show” monologue Wednesday night was Donald Trump’s continually wishy-washy stance on Russia — from the brief hardline position he took before ordering the military to bomb Syria last week to his refusal to impose sanctions this week.

Specifically, Colbert wanted to talk about Un ambassador Nikki Haley, a Trump appointee who has been in a bit of a public scuffle with Trump over Russia of late, most recently when she went on “Face the Nation” on Sunday to declare that sanctions were definitely incoming and the announcement would be made soon.

“It turns out no one made the announcement because Trump scrapped any new sanctions against Russia, overruling his advisers. We tried to get a follow-up from Nikki Haley, but it’s so hard to reach her under that bus,” Colbert joked. “Apparently, when Trump saw Haley on TV saying Russia sanctions were coming, the president grew angry. And you wouldn’t like him when he’s angry — or any other time.

“And this is not the first time Trump has been mad at Haley over Russia. when he saw her criticizing Russia on TV, he started yelling at the screen, ‘Who wrote that for her? Who wrote that for her?’ Fun fact, Mr. President: not all women are under legally binding agreements about what they can say. Some of them just get to talk.”

Colbert then detailed how this conflict escalated a bit when Trump’s new economic adviser Larry Kudlow commented that “there might have been some momentary confusion” for Haley with her statement about the sanctions. To which Haley declared, “I don’t get confused.”

“Nikki Haley! Good for you, Nikki! Yeah! You hear that? Nikki Haley does not get confused! Except for that time she joined the Trump administration. Not sure what she was thinking then,” Colbert quipped.

“Trump may be angry because he accidentally appointed someone competent, and there are ramblings that Trump has grown suspicious of Haley’s ambition, and Republicans are whispering ‘about the prospect of an alliance between Ms. Haley and vice president Mike Pence, possibly to run as a ticket in 2020.’ That’s absurd. Mike Pence can’t be on a ticket with a woman who’s not his wife. He can’t do it.”

You can watch this portion of the monologue from Wednesday’s “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” in the video embedded at the top of this post.

Cynthia Nixon Says Nothing "Inherently Wrong" With Stars Entering Politics

Cynthia Nixon stopped by The Late Show on Wednesday to discuss her campaign to become New York's Democratic candidate for governor, which has already caught significant press attention months before primary ballots will be cast.

Host Stephen Colbert started the conversation by joking about one of Nixon's campaign refrains: "Why 'Cynthia for New York'? Why not 'Nixon for New York'?" he asked.

Nixon shot back with a zinger, saying that she wouldn't mind using her last name despite its resemblance to former president Richard Nixon. "I would rather be the good Nixon than the bad Cuomo," she said.

Could James Comey influence another campaign? FBI director boosts ‘Late Show’ ratings and maybe also its Emmy chances

Former FBI director James Comey was famous — or infamous, depending on who you ask — for possibly influencing the 2016 Us presidential election by announcing two weeks before voting that the Hillary Clinton email investigation was being reopened. Then he was abruptly fired by President Donald Trump while he was investigating Russia’s potential influence on the election. Could Comey now influence the Emmy election? He appeared on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on April 17 to discuss his new book “A Higher Loyalty,” which boosted Colbert to blockbuster ratings. Watch a piece of that interview above.

Comey’s appearance helped “Late Show” earn a 3.5 rating/9 share in households. That’s the show’s highest overnight rating of the season and the third highest overnight rating since Colbert took over “Late Show” from David Letterman in September 2015.

And Donald Trump may be inadvertently boosting Comey’s profile during his book tour. The

Colbert Receives Third-Highest ‘Late Show’ Ratings Ever With Comey Interview

Colbert Receives Third-Highest ‘Late Show’ Ratings Ever With Comey Interview
James Comey delivered more than a little excitement to Stephen Colbert on Tuesday night — and that’s saying a lot, as the late-night host was more than a little hyped for the strongly-promoted appearance.

Along with answers to some of Colbert’s most-burning questions about his ousting by the Trump administration, the ex-FBI director also brought with him “The Late Show”s highest overnight rating on any night this season and its third-highest overnight rating ever.

Starting at 11:35 p.m., the sitdown posted a 3.5 rating/9 share for Colbert’s program that evening, and a 0.6/4 in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary data from Nielsen’s metered markets. That second number marked the program’s highest-rated Tuesday in the key demo for the season.

The highly-anticipated interview also gifted “The Late Show” with its biggest lead over NBC’s “The Tonight Show” (1.8 percent) since its premiere back in September 2015 (which saw a 2.5 percent over Jimmy Fallon’s late-night program).

Speaking of Tuesday’s competition Colbert’s program won its times slot by around 0.1 of a point, with the “Tonight Show” putting up 1.7/5 overall and a 0.6/4 in the 18-49 range, while ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” earned a 1.5/4 and 0.4/3 in the key demo.

Jimmy Kimmel: Comey Book ‘Combines the Two Things Trump Hates Most — Criticism and Reading’

Jimmy Kimmel: Comey Book ‘Combines the Two Things Trump Hates Most — Criticism and Reading’
Jimmy Kimmel, as he has been known to do, spent a large portion of his opening monologue on Tuesday saying mean things about Donald Trump. This time, the range of topics spanned from the release of James Comey’s new book to Trump’s apparent unwillingness to actually impose any of the sanctions on Russia that the government has announced. And, also, Kimmel spent a little time with a Baby Donald Trump to tell him all about the terrible things he’ll do in the future.

“The big news today was the bigly-anticipated release of former FBI director James Comey’s book, in which he paints an unflattering portrait of his former boss. The president is said to be furious about the book because it combines the two things he hates most: criticism and reading,” Kimmel joked.

“The book came out today — it is the number one seller on Amazon. At local bookstores, kids were lined up at midnight, dressed as their favorite characters from the Mueller investigation.”

Then Kimmel traveled back in time to 1946, where we visited Baby Donald (a puppet) to tell him about the book as Baby Donald lay in his extraordinarily decadent crib. You can watch this bit right here below.

Earlier in the monologue, Kimmel tore into Trump a bit for continuing to not institute sanctions against Russia.

“President Trump did a little tap dance today – on those Russia sanctions he’s been talking so much about. He was supposed to impose tough new sanctions on Russia yesterday – but I guess decided not to go through with it. Why? No one knows – although I’m sure there’s a very good reason that has nothing at all to do with the Russians having any kind of anything he doesn’t want us to see on him,” Kimmel joked.

Also Read: Watch Stephen Colbert's Full 32-Minute Grilling of James Comey Here (Video)

“But White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said, ‘The president has been clear that he’s going to be tough on Russia, but at the same time he’d still like to have a good relationship with them.’ So in other words, the president is Ok with announcing sanctions he just doesn’t want to impose any of them on the Russians. It would be rude to do that. If only Donald Trump were as tough on Russia as he is on his belt loops.”

Kimmel then examined that possibility that the pee tape is actually not real and maybe Putin really doesn’t have any blackmail material on Trump — and how much weirder that would be than the alternative.

“The way he fawns over Vladimir Putin is mind-boggling. At this point, it’s almost more embarrassing if Putin doesn’t have something on Trump,” Kimmel said. “Because if he doesn’t have a tape, that means Trump is just sucking up like an infatuated groupie. The way Mike Pence does with him.”

Watch Stephen Colbert’s Full 32-Minute Grilling of James Comey Here (Video)
In an episode that Stephen Colbert has been hyping for weeks, former FBI director James Comey appeared on “The Late Show” on Tuesday to promote his new book, “A Higher Loyalty,” detailing his troubling interactions with Donald Trump before Trump fired him last year — as well as other notable decisions he made in the run-up to the 2016 election that many have speculated swung the election for Trump.

CBS posted the full, unedited version of the interview on YouTube, which runs a solid 32 minutes. You can view the video in the embed above or right here on YouTube.

Colbert’s conversation with Comey began very amicably, with Colbert saying he wanted to recreate Comey’s flight home on the FBI jet after being fired, in which Comey famously says he sat alone drinking wine out of a paper cup. Colbert pulled out two paper cups and a bottle of pinot noir, and they toasted to begin the segment.

Also Read: Colbert Completely Loses It Over Hannity-Cohen Shocker: 'Who Did Sean Hannity Have Sex With?' (Video)

After buttering him up a bit, Colbert did challenge Comey on statements he’s bad about Obama attorney general Loretta Lynch and his decision to publicly announce that the FBI had re-opened the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails less than two weeks prior to the election.

Colbert played a bit of a balancing act throughout, making sure he stayed mostly amicable while still legitimately pushing on some big issues.

Eventually, of course, the alleged pee tape did come up. After asking about the conversation Comey had with Trump about the pee tape allegation, Colbert mentioned that he has actually been to Moscow and visited that suite, and invited Comey to ask him any questions he might have about it.

So Comey asked if the suite was roomy enough for a self-proclaimed germaphobe like Trump to be able to watch two hookers pee on each other without himself getting any of it on himself. Colbert assured him that the room was very long, with plenty enough space for Trump to stay out of the “splash zone.”
