G4 orders show about 'Tough' people, places
G4 is teaming with reality production house Super Delicious for a series that looks at the world's toughest people, places and things.

Titled "That's Tough!" the docuseries will show viewers the toughest high-security prisons, sniper units and bank vaults, among other examples.

G4 has ordered eight half-hour episodes of the series, which is scheduled to premiere Oct. 20. Each will profile the three toughest entries in each category.

"It's no secret that guys love to debate what the biggest, baddest, strongest is of everything," G4 president Neal Tiles said. "This series sets the record straight once and for all in a way that's edgy, irreverent and fun."

"Tough!" is produced by the Wme-repped Super Delicious (Spike's "Manswers," Food Network's "Cupcake Wars"), with Cara Tapper, Adam Cohen and Joanna Vernetti executive producing.

Spike renews 'Ways to Die,' 'MANswers'
Spike TV has renewed "1000 Ways to Die" and "MANswers" and is expanding the "Die" franchise with spinoff "1000 Ways to Lie."

The late-night trivia show "MANswers" has been picked up for 10 episodes, while the 13-episode order for "Die," from Thom Beers' Original Prods., includes a pilot for "Lie."

Just like "Die," which re-creates some of the most outlandish ways people died, "Lie" will showcase some of the most outrageous lies ever told in a fast-paced, tongue-in-cheek manner.

Beers pitched the title of the spinoff to Sharon Levy, Spike's senior vp original programming, and she was sold. "Thom's got his finger so firmly on the pulse on our core audience," Levy said.

"Die" and "MANswers," whose renewals Levy called "a no-brainer" based on their strong performance on TV and online, will air in a block next season, she said. (They have run on different nights, Sunday ("Die") and Tuesday ("MANswers")

ABC Family picks up gymnastics series

ABC Family is hoping to score a "Perfect 10," handing out a pilot pickup to a project set in the world of competitive gymnastics.

"10" is produced by Prodco Inc.

"We loved this millennial drama and its compelling characters right way," said Kate Juergens, executive vp original series programming and development at ABC Family.

The "10" pickup follows recent pilot orders for two other projects: "10 Things I Hate About You," a single-camera comedy based on the feature film, and "Ruby and the Rockits," a multicamera comedy. All three pilots are set go into production in the fall in Los Angeles.
