Reach Me Review

There’s nothing worse than a feel-good crowd pleaser that doesn’t quite come together. A movie like Reach Me only aims to entertain by shooting directly for the heart, carried by a sweet message meant to leave audiences in an enlightened state. Negatively bashing such a blunder is like hating on a puppy or a kitten, something so sweet and innocent it can’t possibly be bad, right? Wrong. Reach Me is a mess of a film that wants to be the Pulp Fiction of life-altering comedies, but its colorful nature only provides momentary distractions from its lifeless, empty soul. Terrible performances, a haphazardly cobbled story, soap opera scripting – the only people Reach Me might save are future filmmakers, teaching them how Not to execute a complex story about multiple character arcs.

My kind of movie – it’s filled by a lot of stars and actor Tom Sizemore!

A motivational book written by a mysterious man (Tom Berenger) goes viral and quickly gains popularity, inspiring a group of people that includes a journalist (Kevin Connolly), his editor (Sylvester Stallone), a former inmate (Kyra Sedgwick), a hip-hop mogul (Nelly), an actor (Cary Elwes) and an undercover cop (Thomas Jane) to re-evaluate their choices and decisions by confronting their fears in hopes of creating more positive lives.

Reach Me Trailer and Poster Starring Sylvester Stallone, Terry Crews, Thomas Jane, and the Rest of the 323 Area Code

Wow.  Fifteen years after Paul Thomas Anderson's valley opus Magnolia, we get the Millenium Entertainment take on Altman-esque sprawl with Reach Me.  This film looks a bit out of its mind, but maybe it's in the service of some kind of mad genius.  All I know is it doesn't look boring, even though it seems to be in search of a consistent tone (it oscillates wildly between serious pathos and comic relief). I will indeed be seeing it. Hit the jump for the Reach Me trailer and poster.  The film was directed by John Herzfeld and stars Sylvester StalloneTom BerengerKevin Connolly,  Danny Trejo, Kyra SedgwickNellyCary ElwesThomas JaneTerry Crews, Danny Aiello, Kelsey Grammer, Lauren Cohan, Ryan Kwanten, as well as Tom Sizemore. Sylvester Stallone And Tom Berenger Seek Motivation In Reach Me Trailer

There’s often times when you hear the mention of a particular filmmaker, and immediately recoil, as if the actual words have caused an indelible stain on your very soul. I wouldn’t go so far as to say that’s John Herzfield, because I quite enjoyed his 1996 ensemble caper, 2 Days In The Valley. But those with a more discerning and high cultural palette may not be interested to know, what has he been up to recently?

Reach Me is his latest affair with a starry cast – but has he learned from mistakes past? It’s hard to gauge his efficacy as a filmmaker from a brief trailer, so I’m gonna give him the benefit of the doubt. The basic premise concerns a large cast of characters, who all come into contact with a motivating self-help book called Reach Me. Penned by a reclusive author (Tom Berenger), the tome

Sylvester Stallone Movie ‘Reach Me’ Boots Kickstarter for Indiegogo (Exclusive)
The feel-good indie ”Reach Me” starring Sylvester Stallone has been pulled from Kickstarter — despite that it’s already hit its $250,000 goal there — in favor of Indiegogo, whose “more flexible” format allows international contributions and pledges beyond $10,000. Director John Herzfeld and producers Rebekah Chaney and Cassian Elwes initially turned to Kickstarter when one of the film’s backers fell off the project, leaving them scrambling to raise $250,000 to finish. The Kickstarter campaign for “Reach Me” was scheduled to close on Sept. 19, though it surpassed its $250,000 goal several weeks early. However, the pledged money will be canceled, and Herzfeld hopes...

Sylvester Stallone Movie 'Reach Me' Turns to Kickstarter After Investor Exit

It seems like every other day there's a new bit of news about a movie that's being funded through crowdsourcing website Kickstarter. First it was that Zach Braff movie, then the "Veronica Mars" theatrical spin-off, and most recently a Spike Lee "joint" that sounds like a vampire movie but isn't. The latest in the long line of films looking to the Internet for handouts is "Reach Me," a drama written and directed by John Herzfeld, whose dubious filmography includes "2 Days in the Valley" and "15 Minutes."

The situation with "Reach Me" is somewhat unique: With the cast and crew well into production, a key financier backed out, leaving the project $250,000 in the hole. Producers Rebekah Chaney and Cassian Elwes and star Sylvester Stallone put up some money of their own but then turned to Kickstarter as a way of getting the project back on track. They're attempting to raise the $250,000 before

Investor Leaves Them $250,000 Short; John Herzfeld And Sly Stallone Hope Kickstarter Can Raise Finishing Funds For ‘Reach Me’
Exclusive: All summer we’ve debated the merits of Kickstarter as Zach Braff, Spike Lee and the makers of Veronica Mars successfully used the mechanism as a way to fill in funding gaps for movies they wanted to make. Well, here’s a new wrinkle: John Herzfeld, who wrote and directed 2 Days In The Valley, 15 Minutes and The Death And Life Of Bobby Z, was already shooting the ensemble film Reach Me when one of his backers fell out to the tune of $250,000. Rather than squash the movie, he, his star Sylvester Stallone and producer Cassian Elwes have made a pitch for the funds through Kickstarter. With a cast that includes Stallone, Lauren Cohan, Kelsey Grammer, Kyra Sedgwick, Nelly, Entourage‘s Kevin Connolly, True Blood‘s Ryan Kwanten, Thomas Jane, Tom Sizemore, Elizabeth Henstridge, Terry Crews and Danny Trejo, you wouldn’t imagine they would have any trouble finding the
