The Awesomeness That is Broken Lizard

At first glance a lot of people don’t even know who these guys are but if you’ve seen at least one of their movies then you’ll understand why others might talk about them in such glowing terms. Broken Lizard is the name of the production company that these five friends formed back in the 90s at Colgate University. The man that started it all, Jay Chandrasekhar, put together a troupe after being asked by a student theater director, and the group was formed. They performed various sketches in clubs and wherever they could under the initial name of Charred Goosebeak.

Super Troopers 3 is Being Written and Hopefully We Don't Have to Wait 16 Years To See it

It took 16 years to get a sequel to Super Troopers and when it was released fans seemed to enjoy what it delivered. As a fan of the first film, Super Troopers 2 seemed to be right on par with that in terms of the fun silly comedy.

It wasn't an easy process to get the sequel off the ground. It went through years of development and raised it's funding through a crowdfunding campaign. It also had a very difficult production schedule. But, all of the challenges that the Broken Lizard team had to endure while making the sequel isn't stopping them from wanting to make a third film!

The Broken Lizard troupe recently talked to CinemaBlend at Comic-Con, and during that interview, they revealed that they are working on Super Troopers 3 and that it won't take quite as long to get it made, saying:

Kevin Heffernan: We're looking to get the third one going.

Broken Lizard officially announced that they have started working on the third Super Troopers installment, which is officially titled Super Troopers 3: Winter Soldiers. However, the team announced at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend that the title is sticking at that they're currently writing it right meow.

Broken Lizard took over Comic-Con for the Super Troopers 2 panel, which was basically just celebrating the success of the crowdfunded sequel. The also took time to talk about their "cinematic universe" and how everything will be tied together with Super Troopers 3: Winter Soldiers. Jay Chandrasekhar revealed that the film is in development at the moment and he was not kidding around. They're considering not even releasing it during the winter, according to Paul Soter,

Movie Review – Super Troopers 2 (2018)

Super Troopers 2, 2018.

Directed by Jay Chandrasekhar.

Starring Erik Stolhanske, Jay Chandrasekhar, Steve Lemme, Paul Sotor, Kevin Heffernan, Brian Cox, Marisa Coughlan, Bruce McCulloch, Lynda Carter, Rob Lowe, Hayes MacArthur, Tyler Labine, and Will Sasso.

Synopsis:

When a border dispute arises between the U.S. and Canada, the Super Troopers are tasked with establishing a Highway Patrol station in the disputed area.

During the heady days of the blockbuster, I would browse shelves aimlessly; floating freely with little care, picking up whatever I may have heard was any good, hockey…It’s the laziest possible attempt at satire, as if they picked up a Lonely Planet guide to Canada and blindly tore pages out.

The humour too is a-boot as subtle a thumb in a car door. Genitals are smacked and waxed, there are lactating men, a bear pushing a portaloo over, drug induced mania and actual Brian Cox doing karaoke.

The director of Super Troopers has met with Marvel about an McU film

Jay Chandrasekhar, director of Super Troopers, has revealed that he’s met with Marvel about potentially making an McU film.

With the breadth of films the Marvel Cinematic Universe pumps out and will likely continue to create, they will, of course, be meeting with their fair-share of directors. One filmmaker that has apparently been on their radar is cult director of Super Troopers Jay Chandrasekhar.

Chandrasekhar spoke to Syfy about the meeting and what it might mean for his future. Telling them that Marvel approached him about which projects he would be interested in for the next phase of Marvel movies:

“They sent me the Marvel Encyclopedia and they said, what do you guys want to do? So, it’s upstairs. My kid’s going through it. And he’s going to make a list of what he thinks we should do, and I’ll go through it. I’m

Super Troopers Director Jay Chandrasekhar Has Met With Marvel Studios

There are big changes coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Avengers 4. We really don't know what exactly the McU is going to look like after that movie, but Marvel Studios is prepping for the future!

It's no secret that Marvel likes to meet with lots of directors for their film projects and one of the directors they recently met with was Jay Chandrasekhar, who is the director of the two Super Trooper comedies that have been made.

He's definitely an interesting out-of-the-box choice to direct a Marvel movie, but while talking to Syfy Wire, he said:

"They sent me the Marvel Encyclopedia and they said, 'What do you guys want to do?' So, it's upstairs. My kid's going through it, and he's going to make a list of what he thinks we should do, and I'll go through it. I'm curious to see what a 13-year-old's mind comes up with.

Marvel Met with Super Troopers Director About a Potential Movie

Marvel Met with Super Troopers Director About a Potential Movie
Here's something you probably thought you'd never hear; the dude who made Super Troopers and Super Troopers 2 might wind up making a Marvel movie. Jay Chandrasekhar, head of the comedy troupe known as Broken Lizard, recently took a general meeting with Marvel Studios. That doesn't necessarily mean he's definitely going to make a movie with them, but it does mean that Kevin Feige and Co. have some interest in working with him and possibly the Broken Lizard gang. The question now becomes, what could this project possibly be?

Jay Chandrasekhar is coming off of the success of Super Troopers 2, the long-awaited sequel to their original cult comedy classic. While the movie hasn't done much for critics, considering its low cost, its done reasonably well at the box office. Enough so that Marvel wanted to meet with him to see what characters from their catalog he might be interested.

Jay Chandrasekhar on ‘Super Troopers 2′, Easter Eggs, Fan Expectations, and More

It’s almost surreal to interview Jay Chandrasekhar, director and co-writer of Super Troopers 2 in his titular super trooper garb – it's not unlike speaking to a Marvel personality while they’re still in their impressive super suits. But Chandrasekhar is shockingly relaxed despite having switched between on-screen gag machine and commanding director all day on set. He's hard at work crafting a sequel that's been nearly two decades in the making, the follow-up to the scruffy stoner flick that captured the Generation Y zeitgeist at seemingly the perfect cultural moment. Finally, after a …

‘A Quiet Place’ Reclaims Box Office Crown, ‘Super Troopers 2’ Outdoes Expectations
John Krasinski’s surprise hit “A Quiet Place” has returned to its No. 1 slot in its third weekend at the domestic box office with $20 million from 3,808 theaters, up 219 sites from last weekend.

In second is last weekend’s box office topper, Dwayne Johnson’s “Rampage,” with about $18 million from 4,115 theaters. The action film opened to $35 million last weekend, narrowly beating out “A Quiet Place’s” second frame.

A Quiet Place” stars Krasinski and wife Emily Blunt as a couple trying to keep their family safe in a world populated by aliens that hunt based on sound. The Paramount film has grossed a respectable $116 million through Friday, including $56 million from foreign markets.

Super Troopers 2 Review

With Roseanne back on the air after 20 years, and shows and films like Stranger Things, It and Ready Player One relying so heavily on their nostalgia factor, it’s not too surprising that we got a second Super Troopers. 17 years ago, the Broken Lizard troupe came out of nowhere, landing a deal with Fox Searchlight, grossing an unbelievable amount of money, and creating a cult hit in the process. Much of their charm feels reminiscent to that of Monty Python’s. But just as a second Holy Grail would impair the impact of the first, Super Troopers 2 has little worth laughing at other than a couple of retold jokes.

There’s no doubt in my mind that Super Troopers could have become this generation’s Police Academy. However, Jay Chandrasekhar and the rest of the Broken Lizard boys extinguished that fire when they abandoned these stoner policemen to make

Broken Lizard Want a Marvel Crossover in Super Troopers 3
Super Troopers 2 was finally released today, but the Broken Lizard crew already have an idea for Super Troopers 3, and it involves the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It's been 16 years since talk about a sequel to Super Troopers was first mentioned, and now the movie is in theaters, taking aim at the number one spot at the box office. Additionally, Super Troopers 2 has been getting good reviews, which has surprised some fans. But, the victory lap is going to be short-lived at the box office since Infinity War hits theaters next weekend.

Speaking of Infinity War, the Broken Lizard team have an idea for Super Troopers 3 that involves Captain America and Bucky. The crew have been toying with naming the next movie Super Troopers 3: Winter Soldiers, which is a pretty epic idea. In fact, Broken Lizard has even talked about Chris Evans joining the team, if only for the

‘Super Troopers 2’: Can Stoner Sequels Find Success After Legalization?

  • Variety
April 20, recognized among marijuana users as the international holiday of 4/20, falls on a Friday this year, which turns out to be the perfect release date for Fox Searchlight’s “Super Troopers 2,” the long awaited sequel to the 2001 stoner-movie classic “Super Troopers.” It will open wide on 2,400 screens.

“Fox Searchlight chose 4/20 as the release date,” director Jay Chandrasekhar says. “It tested better than any of the movies we’ve ever made before. There’s real enthusiasm at Fox over this film.”

That’s not often the case with so-called stoner movies, which have endured waves of acceptance and industry reticence over the years. But now with marijuana legalization in full swing in nine states, including California, have the studios come around to stoking that market again like Cheech & Chong did during the decriminalization wave of the ’70s with “Up in Smoke” and several sequels into the ’80s?

Forty years ago,
