Darianna Cardilli is a Los Angeles-based Italian editor with extensive experience in documentaries. She is a member of the Alliance of Documentary Editors and a Contributing Editor to Documentary, the magazine of the International Documentary Association. She has a BA and MA in Economics from Cambridge University, U.K. and an MFA in Film Editing from the American Film Institute.
Darianna was born in Africa from Italian parents. Growing up in the Middle East, she acquired a taste for the colorful and exotic at an early age. She attended high school in the Netherlands and England, and went on to study at Cambridge University. After working as an investment banker for Goldman Sachs in London, New York and Hong Kong, she left a lucrative financial career in order to pursue her love of filmmaking.
At AFI she edited James Brett's award-winning thesis film Deadtime (1999). Since then, her documentary credits include: The New Americans: Gaming a Revolution (2023) directed by Ondi Timoner, Hollywood Home Movies (2004) for A&E , directed by Academy Award winning Morgan Neville, Biography (1987) for the Biography Channel, and AMC's The Hollywood Fashion Machine (1999) produced by Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato, and Bravo's Flipping Out (2007) . She has also edited narrative features Healed (2023), Hollywood 5, Hammerlock (2000) and Frozen Stars (2003)
When not in front of an editing system, or watching a documentary, her hobbies include figurative and plein air painting.
