Heather Cappiello is a multi-genre director who's work spans television, film, stage and site-specific performance. An in-demand episodic director, Heather helms top streaming and network shows including Chicago Fire, Fear the Walking Dead, FBI and Netflix's hit drama, The Lincoln Lawyer.
Heather is an alumnus of the DGA Craft and Mentorship Program, the CBS Directing Initiative and the writer-director of the award-winning short film Ruby's Tuesday. Prior to directing television, Heather was the script supervisor on dozens of films and television series including Six Feet Under, Saving Grace and Up All Night.
An accomplished theater director, Heather has directed premieres in London and San Francisco including the Bay Area's Jawbone Theatre Ensemble which she co-founded. A life-long admirer of dance as an art form, Heather directed several site-specific live dance performances in Los Angeles and the short dance films, BREAK GLASS and REFRAME.
Heather received her BA from UC Berkeley, her Masters in Theatre Directing from London's Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and is an active member of The Directors Guild of America. Heather is on the co-producing team for the new Broadway musical, The Outsiders, which garnered 12 Tony nominations and four wins including the Best New Musical of 2024
