As a comic strip artist, he created in succession the following strips, "The Gay Thirties", "Dicky Dare", "Terry and The Pirates," a varient of "Terry and the Pirates" for US military publications in World War II later renamed "Male Call" and finally "Steve Canyon" which was the only series he owned the copyright personally.
