Born in the small farming town of Tisdale, Saskatchewan, Canada (population 3000) as the youngest of seven children. Brent began doing stand-up comedy in 1988. He was soon headlining top clubs and theatres across Canada, and has been selected to represent his country at both the Just For Laughs International Comedy Festival, and the World Comedy Tour in Australia. He has appeared in numerous Canadian television programs, and a few U.S. shows (The X-Files (1993), Millennium (1996), Becoming Dick (2000)). • Trivia
In an interview he was asked if he was ever teased as a child due to his last name. Surprisingly, he was not, as he grew up in Tisdale, Saskatchewan which had a very small population (3000) and his family was very large, and many businesses and services in the town were run by his family, so the name was well known in the town. Several businesses in Tisdale still carry the "Butt" name.
  • Quotes
[on his sense of comedy] I'm sure there's a little psychosis. I'm the youngest of seven children and every once in a while I wonder: Did I get enough attention? If I could make my older brothers and sisters laugh, that was a high-water mark.
