He starred in an unsold sitcom pilot for ABC called "A Guide for the Married Man". Based on the 1967 film of the same name, A Guide for the Married Man (1967), the pilot also featured Tony Roberts.

Buckley was co-owner of a popular Beverly Hills eatery called the Cafe Four Oaks. For Thanksgiving 1968, he hosted a free turkey dinner for fifty African-American orphans. He asked several notable Hollywood stars to attend. The only one who showed was Steve McQueen.
