Son of a poet, he made his debut on the stage in 1939 at the Prussian State Theatre. Brennecke remained part of the ensemble cast there until 1945. Was something of a matinee idol during the 1940's and remained popular in leading roles in both the East (Defa) and West German cinema after the war. Retired from acting in 1972. See more »
