Regina Braga was born on November 28, 1946 in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil as Regina Lúcia Palhano Braga. She is an actress, known for Irmã Dulce (2014), Paula - A História de uma Subversiva (1979) and Por Amor (1997). She has been married to Dráuzio Varella since 1981. She was previously married to Celso Nunes.

Mother of Gabriel Braga Nunes.
First actress to play in theater the great modern American poet Elizabeth Bishop, in "Um Porto Seguro Para Elizabeth Bishop". Recently, Amy Irving played the same role, in an American version of Bishop's journey in Brazil: "A Safe Harbour for Elizabeth Bishop".
Husband Drauzio Varela is a doctor and writer of Carandiru (2003).
