Mini Bio (1)
Established British actor (BAFTA member) with a varied and international portfolio and known for his strong character portrayals. Following his earlier formative training in England and USA with masterclass development at RADA in London, David's credits include contemporary, 'period', and classical roles in such as: Orpheus & Eurydice (2000) (starring Oliver Reed); the Greek epic 448 BC: Olympiad of Ancient Hellas (2004) with Roy Dotrice and Brian Blessed; alongside Kevin Costner, Christian Slater and Morgan Freeman in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991); and starring with past screen legends Kurt Jürgens, Klaus Kinski and Maria Schell in the unique Mediterranean film classic and TV series 'Occupation'.
Notable additional past credits: The Gathering (2004) (Royal Television Society Awards); action-adventure Web of Deceit (2007) aka 'Gunner' (Cannes Film Festival entry); as 'Elron' (the magical King of the Elves); and ' Thor' (Viking God/Warrior) for Thames TV.
On Stage, following theatrical appearances in "Canterbury Tales" (The Miller), "As You Like It" (Jacques), "Blithe Spirit" (Dr Bradman), and "A Man For All Seasons" (Lord Chapuys), he studied under acclaimed American theatre director Elizabeth Sharland, starring as famed Victorian Stage Actor 'Henry Irving' in the London production of "A Shakespeare Anthology". This love of theatre led to his charismatic portrayal of 'Big Danny' in the UK stage tour of 'The Hardman' (the hard-hitting life story of Glaswegian Gangster Jimmy Boyle, based on Boyle's own book, 'Sense Of Freedom').
Originating from the North West of England, David has enjoyed numerous earlier television appearances in many UK favorites such as 'Poirot', 'Eastenders', 'The Bill', 'Coronation Street', etc. Likewise he now also enjoys working both sides of 'the pond', reflected by his latest attachment on the forthcoming American global 'superhero' epic Axa.
But he is ever the 'Philosopher' ... his own favorite quotation being from the words of his illustrious idol 'Sir Laurence Olivier' on actors and acting...
"We are as immediate as the moment..." :)
