Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans (2009)
Director: Werner Herzog
Screenplay: William Finkelstein
If there ever was a better example of how to show the old adage true that it’s not what the film is about but rather, how it’s about it… Abel Ferrara’s 1992 masterpiece ‘Bad Lieutenant‘, took place on the streets of New York and starred Harvey Keitel as a “bad lieutenant”. He wasn’t even given a name in the film. He did every drug he could, he pulled over women to sexually harass them, he screwed hookers, and gambled large amounts of money. In between, he tries to solve a crime, haphazardly involving the rape of a local nun. I met
The board unanimously passed a resolution Sunday saying that the allegations by the United Screen Artists Committee were “either false or completely unsubstantiated,” based on a report by its outside counsel and accountants.
“The National Board that SAG-aftra categorically rejects the allegations and claims of the Usac letter and declines to take any of the actions requested therein, other than making records and information available for review by members as has always been SAG-aftra policy,” the board said.
“Be it further resolved that SAG-aftra urges Usac and its individual signatories to withdraw their potentially defamatory, unsubstantiated allegations against SAG-aftra executive leadership, and Be it finally resolved that the National Board expresses its full confidence in and appreciation for National Executive Director David White, Chief

The board, in a statement passed unanimously on Sunday, also blasted the United Screen Artists Committee for making the allegations.
Variety reported exclusively on Friday that former SAG president Ed Asner and eight other SAG-AFTRA members made the accusations in a “letter of demand,” and promised to file a suit if the policies are not corrected in 45 days.
The letter of demand said that the amount of member money that’s allegedly being withheld is in the area of $1 billion.
“What appeared to be the improper handling of One Hundred and Fifty Million Dollars of monies held in trust is now approaching at least a Billion Dollars, spread out among internal accounts, as well as such entities as Sound Exchange, Afm & SAG-aftra Intellectual Property Rights Distribution Fund, and a
Variety has learned that the United Screen Artists Committee delivered a letter of demand Friday morning to SAG-aftra headquarters in Los Angeles to National Executive Director David White and President Gabrielle Carteris. The United Screen Artists Committee is the same entity that sued the union in federal court in 2013 over the issue of the union’s alleged mis-handling of $130 million foreign royalties and residuals. That suit was dismissed in 2014.
Carteris issued a blistering response Friday: “It’s time to stop the politics. This group of people should be deeply ashamed. After years of failed attempts to derail the success of this union through deceitful litigation, they are putting our members at risk on the eve of our most important contract negotiations.
One of the reasons I enjoy Arrow Video releases are the love they give to underrated movies. While this is my first time watching Raising Cain, it is fair to say that after watching it I’m surprised it doesn’t get more praise. Maybe the new Director’s Cut that is included will change that… for this release at least.
When Carter (John Lithgow) reports his wife Jenny (Lolita Davidovich) missing to the police, it is soon revealed that her lover Jack (Steven Bauer) may have killed her. When Carter is recognised by an old retired cop though for his likeness to Dr. Nix a discredited doctor believed to be dead, his story comes under scrutiny as does the possible connection to recent

The wife of a respected child psychologist starts to suspect that her husband’s obsession with their daughter’s behaviour may not be very healthy.
Returning to the well of Brian De Palma movies to give their meticulous treatment the wizards at Arrow Video have turned their attention to his 1992 thriller Raising Cain, a movie sandwiched between the disappointing The Bonfire of the Vanities and the brilliant Carlito’s Way in the director’s filmography and a film that was possibly his most blatant nod to Hitchcock – and Psycho in particular – since Dressed to Kill back in 1980.
John Lithgow (Cliffhanger/Blow Out) stars as Dr. Carter Nix, a child psychologist who is married to nurse Jenny (Lolita Davidovich – Gods and Monsters) and who dotes
After the failure of adapting The Bonfire of the Vanities, the theatrical cut of Raising Cain was a noble return to what De Palma does best: cinematically manipulating the audience like voyeuristic puppets, much like he did with Body Double. In “Changing Cain: Brian De Palma's Cult Classic Restored,” one of the features included on the Blu-ray’s second disc, film critic Jim Emerson discusses how the opening shot of a

Uncomfortable platonic tension and inappropriate awkwardness loom over virtually every scene in Lamb. Some will outright write the movie off based on its subject material alone, but anyone who gives it a chance will find themselves rewarded with what will wind up as one of the most complex and emotional works of the year.
Lamb (adapted from the novel of the same name) could have went wrong from the very moment a depressed and mentally broken 47-year-old man named David is approached by an 11-year-old girl named Tommie in a
