Sy Bartlett was born on July 10, 1900 in Nikolayev, Kherson Governorate, Russian Empire as Sacha Baraniev. He was a writer and producer, known for 13 Rue Madeleine (1946), Road to Zanzibar (1941) and The Princess and the Pirate (1944). He was married to Ellen Drew, Alice White and Patricia Owens. He died on May 29, 1978 in Hollywood, California, USA.

An Air Force bombardier during World War II, Bartlett was in the lead plane of the first bombing mission over Berlin in March of 1942, and was the first American to drop bombs on Berlin during the war.

20th Century Fox contract writer from 1946.
