Flashback Weekend 2017: William Forsythe and Lew Temple Reflect on Rob Zombie’s The Devil’S Rejects

From August 4th through the 6th, Flashback Weekend Chicago Horror Con took over the Windy City, and Daily Dead was on hand for all the horror-fied festivities. Throughout all three days, this writer served as one of Flashback’s co-hosts, and brought back some highlights from several of the panels held over the course of the convention.

First up is a discussion on easily one of the greatest horror movies of the last 20 years, Rob Zombie’s The Devil’s Rejects, between two of the film’s co-stars, William Forsythe and Lew Temple. During their panel, the duo discussed their initial feelings on working with Zombie, collaborating alongside their fellow cast members (including the late, great Geoffrey Lewis), which scenes were improvised, and what it is about Zombie as a cinematic storyteller that has fueled them to return on several of his other projects post-Devil’s Rejects.

'Mallrats 2' Begins Shooting in January 2016
Back in May, writer-director Kevin Smith revealed that he had finished the script for his sequel to Mallrats, entitled MallBrats, with most of the main cast from the original comedy already confirmed to return. That was the last update we had on the project, until today, when Kevin Smith announced that filming will begin in January 2016, at the Exton Square Mall in Exton, Pennsylvania. Here's what the filmmaker had to say on his official Facebook page.

"We found our Mall, y'all! This January, the @extonsquaremall in Exton, Pa will star in &#8234#&#8206Mallrats&#8236 2! @jayandsilentbob are coming to Chester County! Big thanks to financiers StarStream, who found the mall & the money! They're making this &#8234#&#8206MR2&#8236 dream come true!"

You may recall that, back in April, Kevin Smith revealed MallBrats would be his next movie, with production slated to begin in late 2015, as opposed to the original plan, where the sequel would shoot

'Mallrats 2' Gets Titled 'MallBrats', Script Is Finished

'Mallrats 2' Gets Titled 'MallBrats', Script Is Finished
Kevin Smith is making good on his promise to deliver Mallrats 2 as his next film, announcing today that the first draft of the screenplay is finished and that the official title of the movie is MallBrats. While the writer/director didn't offer any new plot details, the title surely hints that the original characters will be bringing some of their children into the mix this time around. The filmmaker also used this moment to remember original Mallrats producer Jim Jacks. He says:

"20 years in the making. 113 pages fulla old friends & new jokes. This is for you, Jim. Wish you were here. #MallBrats"

Jim Jacks had always wanted to make a sequel to the original Mallrats. Saldy, he passed away a little over a year ago. His untimely death helped motivate and push to see the film become a reality. At this time, the sequel does not have a release date.

'Mallrats 2' Also Gets Joey Lauren Adams & Renee Humphrey

'Mallrats 2' Also Gets Joey Lauren Adams & Renee Humphrey
Director Kevin Smith continues to add more and more cast members for his upcoming sequel Mallrats 2, with original Mallrats stars Joey Lauren Adams (Gwen), Ren&#233e Humphrey (Trish) and Sven-Ole Thorsen (Lafours) coming back to reprise their roles. They join director/star Kevin Smith (Silent Bob), Jason Mewes (Jay), Ethan Suplee (William), Jason Lee (Brodie), Stan Lee (Himself), Michael Rooker (Mr Svenning), Shannen Doherty (Rene) and Jeremy London (T.S. Quint). What's interesting is it seems the director is bringing even more actors from Mallrats on board than originally planned.

When Kevin Smith revealed that Jeremy London was coming back last week, his tweet said "8 down, 4 to go," implying that he has four more Mallrats cast members left to add. However, when the director announced Sven-Ole Thorsen's casting today, he said, "11 down, now 4 to go." Two of the main Mallrats cast members that have not been confirmed yet are

A hurricane is the least of everyone’s problems as Chapter Ten kicks off on The CW

The Best Of Number Two – The Devil’s Rejects By Alex Divincenzo

Hello, and welcome to The Best Of Number Two here at The Liberal Dead. We haven’t done any kind of theme for a long time, so I thought I would reach out to some some talented people from other sites, and see if we can put something together. I decided it would be a theme about the best second films in a franchise/series. Expect discussion about Metamorhosis: The Alien Factor, The Devil’s Rejects, C.H.U.D. II, Blade II, Sleepaway Camp II, Amityville 2, Island of the Fishmen, The Dark Knight, Final Destination 2, House II and more.

Rob Zombie is a polarizing filmmaker, to say the least. Love him or hate him, you cannot deny is his ambition. The longtime musician made his feature directorial debut with House of 1000 Corpses. Although filmed in 2000, the movie didn’t hit theaters until 2003. Corpses fell victim to many issues that first-time directors face,

B-Sides: The Talons of the Eagle Challenge

This weekend’s B-Sides is the theme song to the 1992 direct-to-video action movie Talons of the Eagle. This song is not for your listening pleasure. This song is a dare – a challenge. Can you listen to the whole thing from beginning to end?

I have never seen Talons of the Eagle. Kind of surprising given it starred Billy Blanks and I was all about those cheesy direct-to-video action movies around the time this came out. The Devil's Rejects' Priscilla Barnes co-stars, and here’s the plot according to the IMDb:

After three DEA agents are killed by Mr. Li (James Hong), martial arts champion Tyler Wilson (Blanks) is sent on assignment to Toronto and teams up with Michael Reed (Jalal Merhi). Wilson and Reed enter a martial arts tournament, where they end up saving Mr. Li from being killed by a rival crime boss. Li invites the two to join his staff.

Priscilla Barnes And Ron Jeremy Join Susanna Lo's 'Manson Girls'

We're not kidding. Ron Jeremy. And he plays a pornographer.

We're following director Susanna Lo's film Manson Girls, which focuses on Charles Manson's follower Sandra Good, who is played by the talented Thora Birch, quite closely, and the director informs us that two new cast members, the beloved Priscilla Barnes and the crazy Ron Jeremy, are both playing dramatic roles in the biopic.

Priscilla Barnes, who horror film fans will recognize from Rob Zombie's The Devil's Rejects is "Mrs. Atkins", follower Sadie Atkin's mom (did we forget to mention that talented Heather Matarazzo will be playing Sadie Atkins?) and former porn actor Ron Jeremy will be doing a cameo as Van Guylder, the director of the porn film The Ramrodder which two Manson followers, Catherine Share (aka "Gypsy") and Bobby Beausoleil, starred in together.

"It's quite a blast to have the two of them join the family,

Who Could Replace Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men?

Who Could Replace Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men?
Now that Charlie Sheen is officially fired from his gig as Charlie Harper on Two and a Half Men, producers must decide if they're going to shut down the show completely, or if they can find some creative way of moving forward. We're voting for a forward march, not least because Jack and Janet did Three's Company for years without Chrissy. (We just need to find Two and a Half Men for Priscilla Barnes!) So whose names are being dropped as Sheen replacements in the press? Who's your pick for a quality contender for a Men reboot? We've got some ideas below—Will Arnett has already perfected a self-involved blowhard schtick, and we just want him back on our TVs—but...

Exclusive - Steven Goldmann Talks the Future of Trailer Park of Terror, DeadFellas and More

In May of 2007 (just prior to the nation’s economic collapse), this writer visited the set of the Bogner Entertainment and Trailer Park Partners production Trailer Park of Terror, a Southern-fried fright flick directed by country-music video director-turned feature filmmaker Steven Goldmann. Produced by Jonathan Bogner and Ralph Singleton (Pet Semetary) and based on the Imperium Comics of the same name, Trailer Park of Terror premiered the following year at Slamdance ’08, and was released to DVD that October via Summit Entertainment.

Starring Lew Temple and Priscilla Barnes (The Devil’s Rejects) and Nichole Hiltz, Duane Whitaker (Feast), Ed Corbin and Michelle Lee (among others), Trailer Park of Terror, regardless of its playfully sadistic EC Comics-vibe and inspired makeup designs by Todd Tucker, didn’t cause the waves its producers had predicted, and due to such, unfortunately derailed the planned feature franchise and television and comic book series. Perplexing, given the gonzo cocktail of sex,

Exclusive: Bill Moseley Talks Manson Girls, Dances with Werewolves, Holy Oak and More!

On January 8, 2011, this writer took a trip up La Tuna Canyon just outside Sun Valley, CA, for a visit to Frank Ippolito’s then-shooting short film "Night of the Little Dead" (set visit and photos coming soon) and while there chatted with one of that film’s stars, genre vet Bill Moseley, who talked up a few of his other horror projects, including Susanna Lo’s upcoming feature Manson Girls.

“I’m really looking forward to it,” said the actor, who is familiar to horror fans for his turn as ‘Choptop’ in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 as well as for his portrayal of ‘Otis’ in the Rob Zombie films House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects, of his role in Manson Girls. “It is kind of funny to have these brushes with Charles Manson over the years. I did a stage play many years ago called ‘Timothy
