StudioCanal UK has revealed a new 60-second trailer for the indie drama The Mercy, which tells the story of a humble man who takes an unfinished boat on a race around the world for an adventure. We posted the first UK trailer last fall and it looks mildly enjoyable, with some inspirational moments. This film tells the triumphant, inspiring, incredible true story of Donald Crowhurst, an amateur sailor who decided to take on the task of competing in the 1968 Golden Globe Race - sailing around the world solo. Colin Firth stars as Crowhurts, and the cast includes Rachel Weisz as his wife Clare, along with David Thewlis, Jonathan Bailey, Tim Downie, Andrew Buchan, Genevieve Gaunt, Adrian Schiller. TV Review: ‘Hooten & the Lady’ on the CW

TV Review: ‘Hooten & the Lady’ on the CW
If “Hooten & the Lady” feels somewhat predictable at times, that’s because it is. That’s not a knock on the series, though, because it knows it. In fact, that’s a major part of its appeal. The British Sky1 original series — now re-airing all eight of its episodes here as part of the The CW’s summer schedule — intentionally draws on that feeling of nostalgia that comes with an “Indiana Jones” flick or even “Romancing The Stone.” From the Amazon to Rome to Egypt to the Himalayas, “Hooten & the Lady’s” first season attempts to tell a rather self-contained action-adventure story in the span of eight separate hours. And it succeeds.

First of all, the series’ peculiar title is more straightforward than it seems: Your typical American adventurer-cum-thief, Hooten (Michael Landes) has stubble, a tan, and a smile that can get any woman on his side. That is, except for the aforementioned “Lady,” Alex

'Zootopia' Beats '10 Cloverfield Lane' at Box Office with $50M

'Zootopia' Beats '10 Cloverfield Lane' at Box Office with $50M
After dethroning 20th Century Fox's Deadpool at the box office last weekend, Disney's Zootopia was easily expected to remain on top during its second frame in theaters. The animated comedy faced Paramount's low-budget thriller 10 Cloverfield Lane, Sony's R-rated comedy The Brothers Grimsby, Focus Features' historical drama The Young Messiah and Lionsgate's The Perfect Match, none of which were expected to take down Zootopia. Box Office Mojo reports that Zootopia did in fact come out on top for the second weekend in a row, earning a healthy $50 million.

Zootopia only dropped an impressive 33.4% in its second weekend, with its current domestic tally at $142.6 million and an international total of $288.7 million for a global take of $431.3 million. The movie is a huge hit with critics, scoring a 99% "Fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and Zootopia should do well with repeat viewing. Zootopia earned a healthy $13,065 per-screen average, with the movie playing in 3,827 theaters.

Film Review: ‘The Young Messiah’

Film Review: ‘The Young Messiah’
Because in this franchise-saturated age, even the New Testament apparently requires a prequel — aside, of course, from the Old Testament — “The Young Messiah” envisages a year in the life of Christ circa age 7. Based on Anne Rice’s 2005 novel, “Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt,” and claiming inspiration from Scripture, this pious drama is a work of minimal imagination and even less subtlety. Its hollow tale is merely a series of inert incidents in which the childhood deity (Adam Greaves-Neal) heals, resurrects, and provides revelation on his way from Alexandria to Nazareth (and later Jerusalem) alongside his parents Mary (Sara Lazzaro) and Joseph (Vincent Walsh), all while being pursued by a would-be Roman assassin. A borderline-diabolical test of one’s patience, this sluggish saga will likely stir the spirits of only the staunchest Sunday-school set.

“How do we explain God to his own son?” asks Joseph to Mary during an

Can '10 Cloverfield Lane' Scare 'Zootopia' Away at the Box Office?

Can '10 Cloverfield Lane' Scare 'Zootopia' Away at the Box Office?
Disney's Zootopia managed to dethrone 20th Century Fox's Deadpool at the box office last weekend, by setting a few records of its own. It topped Dr. Seuss' the Lorax for the highest animated movie opening in March, and became the biggest debut ever for Walt Disney Animation Studios. This weekend, it will go up against four wildly different newcomers, Paramount's low-budget thriller 10 Cloverfield Lane, Sony's R-rated comedy The Brothers Grimsby, Focus Features' historical drama The Young Messiah and Lionsgate's The Perfect Match, none of which are expected to best Zootopia, according to the projections at Pro.BoxOffice.com

Zootopia is expected to drop roughly 50% this weekend, taking in a projected $37.5 million, but since animated movies have tendencies to drop less from week to week, it's possible it could debut just north of $40 million. After all, the movie is a huge hit with critics, scoring a 99% "Fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes,
