Born in Philadelphia to a Jewish family, she landed her one and only film role in the 1962 thriller What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962) after winning a contest. After appearing as the young Jane Hudson she never returned to the screen or any other form of acting thereafter due to the religious beliefs of her family. She spent the remainder of her life living in her birthplace of Pennsylvania married to a dentist and later raised a family.

She was a 1972 graduate of Chalutzim Academy in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The Baby Jane doll that she was seen with in the 1962 film was given to her upon completion of the film and she kept it proudly displayed in her home for the remainder of her life.
Was an active member of The Tiferet Bet Israel Synagogue in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania.
She served on the Blue Bell Town Council from 1982 to 1990.
Was an honorary member of The Democratic Women of Mercer County.
Had four children; Noah (born 1975), Adam (born 1978), Sharon (born 1983), and Joshua (born 1985).
Julie graduated from Long Beach Poly High School in 1972. She was a member of the Poly High School drill team and Song and Flag Squad.
