Studied at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome. After World War II, became active in the Italian neo-realist cinema as assistant to Gianni di Venanzo. Succeeded di Venanzo as cinematographer upon the latter's illness in 1965. Highly regarded for his shots of interiors and for his ability to create moods. See more »
