Emmys jawdropper: Netflix submits Jeffrey Tambor for ‘Arrested Development’ as Amazon drops him for ‘Transparent’
As Gold Derby exclusively reported, embattled actor Jeffrey Tambor previously exited the Best Comedy Actor Emmy race for Amazon’s “Transparent” amid harassment allegations. But now we’ve learned that Tambor will still be eligible at the 2018 Emmys for his work on Netflix’s “Arrested Development” in the Best Comedy Supporting Actor category. Tambor left “Transparent,” the show that earned him two Emmy Awards, after reports surfaced of inappropriate behavior on set from costar Trace Lysette and personal assistant Van Barnes. Despite that controversy, Netflix has decided to go ahead with their Emmy push for Tambor for Season 5 of “Arrested Development,” which streamed May 29.

Inside Ellen DeGeneres' Unforgettable Birthday Trip to Africa
Even though Ellen DeGeneres turned 60 in January, the talk-show host kept the birthday celebration going last week by traveling to Africa with wife Portia de Rossi. The trip was a special one for the couple. In February, de Rossi surprised DeGeneres by revealing she had set up The Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund—a foundation that supports global conservation efforts for critically endangered species. The foundation's first initiative is building a permanent home for the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. During their trip, the spouses visited Dr. Tara Stoinski, president of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, in Rwanda and spent some quality time with the animals. "Today is here! The Top Five Episodes of Arrested Development Season 5

Arrested Development is a television show that began airing in 2003 and aired for four seasons on a cable network. It was cancelled due to fairly low ratings, but it was later picked up by Netflix and renewed for another season. Starring Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi and Michael Cera, the show has become something like a cult classic. Even though the show never really had a lot of viewers, the fans it did have were dedicated, to say the least. In fact, many people have the assumption that the show got better and better as time went on. Many

‘Arrested Development’ Isn’t Fun To Watch Anymore, and Maeby Here’s Why

  • Indiewire
Revival culture has had its ups and downs, but here might be the biggest downside for TV fans: acknowledging that once-beloved series were not only better consigned to the past, but haven’t aged well. The latest show to challenge us is “Arrested Development,” and on so many levels, it has proven difficult to enjoy this once-beloved show.

On May 29, just days before the end of Emmys eligibility, Netflix released the first eight episodes of “Arrested” Season 5. Right before that, however, came a now-infamous New York Times interview where the cast (save Portia de Rossi and Michael Cera) opened up about the on-set atmosphere. Inspired by questions regarding star Jeffrey Tambor’s behavior on the “Arrested” set as well as “Transparent,” Jessica Walter said that in her entire career, she’d never been treated as badly as she was treated by the actor. She was even heard audibly crying in the released audio.

Meghan Markle Is Getting Barked at Online for Abandoning Her Pup in Canada

While Meghan Markle’s rescue beagle Guy made headlines last week when it was incorrectly reported that he hitched a ride to the royal wedding with Queen Elizabeth, it is her other rescue dog, Bogart, that has been getting attention online this week. Why? Because he’s not living with Meghan and new husband Prince Harry at Kensington Palace. The Labrador-shepherd mix was previously rescued by Meghan at the behest of Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, after she bumped into the couple at a dog shelter in La. The actress reported that the A-listers encouraged her to take him home, even going so far as to watch her as she was leaving to make sure that she did it. "It’s sort of like if Oprah tells you to do something," she later said. "I’m sitting there holding him and she’s like, 'Have you thought of a name for him yet?

‘Arrested Development’ season 5 premiere: Jason Bateman, Jeffrey Tambor, Jessica Walter and more dish the show’s return [Listen]

Gold Derby was on-hand recently at Netflix’s Fysee space at Raleigh Studios in Hollywood for the premiere of “Arrested Development” season five, which was followed by a Q&A with creator Mitchell Hurwitz and stars Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett, Tony Hale, David Cross, Alia Shawkat, Jeffrey Tambor and Jessica Walter. Listen to the entire 19-minute Q&A above.

The Emmy winning series about the highly dysfunctional Bluth family originally aired on Fox from 2003-2006 before it was cancelled. But it developed a passionate fan base, so a fourth season was commissioned by Netflix in 2013 as the online outlet was starting to produce original content. Now five years later fans will finally be treated to further (mis)adventures with the Bluth clan.

Arrested Development Review: A Tired Season 5 Feels Like a Huge Mistake

Oh no. Ouch. Yeesh. Is this what people who never liked Arrested Development see when they watch Arrested Development?

As a die-hard fan of the Bluths’ unique brand of family dysfunction — I’m even in the tiny minority that actually liked Season 4 — I squealed like Lucille seeing Gene Parmesan when Netflix announced it was producing a fifth season. But after watching the first six episodes (Season 5’s first half debuts on Tuesday), I feel more like George-Michael trudging home, Charlie Brown-style. Limping badly out of the gate, the new season is disappointingly lackluster, often awkward, oddly paced… and I just

The Familiar Frustration of Jessica Walter’s ‘Arrested Development’ Experience

The interview is as astonishing as it is unsurprising.

Ahead of “Arrested Development’s” fifth season dropping on Netflix next week, the cast sat down with the New York Times and, among other subjects, addressed the sexual harassment and verbal abuse allegations that have recently been raised against star Jeffrey Tambor. While Tambor has denied the harassment allegations, he’s admitted to lashing out on set at his coworkers – including his “Arrested” co-star Jessica Walter.

In addressing that incident in the Times interview, all the male castmembers present — Tambor, Jason Bateman, David Cross, Tony Hale, and to a lesser extent,

David Cross Apologizes to Jessica Walter, Calls Jeffrey Tambor’s Actions ‘Egregious,’ and Says Walter Blew Up at Someone, Too

During a heated New York Times interview with the cast of “Arrested Development” published yesterday, Jessica Walter was brought to tears as she recalled being verbally harassed by Jeffrey Tambor on the set of the acclaimed comedy. Tambor — who was fired from his leading role on “Transparent” after being accused of sexual harassment by two different people — received more support from his male castmates in the moments that followed than Walter did, leading to instant backlash online.

David Cross was part of the exchange, and in a discussion with Gothamist today revealed that his perspective was altered when two people he “deeply respects” told him it made them uncomfortable: Alia Shawkat and his wife. That led him to “unequivocally” apologize to Walter, refer to Tambor’s actions as “egregious,” and recall a time when Walter herself yelled at someone on set.

“I will unequivocally apologize to Jessica. I’m sorry

Watch Ellen Get Choked Up by Ashton Kutcher's Heartfelt Surprise
For her 60th birthday, Ellen DeGeneres got a "really special" gift from her wife: Portia de Rossi surprised Ellen by establishing The Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund in Rwanda and The Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund. Before Ellen and Portia head to Rwanda, Ashton Kutcher and his business partner, Guy Oseary, stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show to talk about their new investment, Ripple, an app that "provides one frictionless experience to send money globally," according to their website.

What Ellen didn't realize was that the real reason Ashton brought it up was because of the $4 million donation he and Guy were giving her on behalf of Ripple for The Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund. Watch Ellen's emotional reaction in the video above.

Jeffrey Tambor’s ‘Arrested Development’ Performance Submitted for Emmys Consideration, Despite ‘Transparent’ Exit

Jeffrey Tambor’s ‘Arrested Development’ Performance Submitted for Emmys Consideration, Despite ‘Transparent’ Exit
A month ago, it wasn’t even official that “Arrested Development” would be a part of the awards race this year. But now Season 5A is coming in hot on May 29, and as Deadline reports the cast has been submitted for Emmys consideration — including controversial star Jeffrey Tambor, who will compete in the Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy race.

Thanks to his work playing the transgender matriarch of “Transparent,” Tambor has dominated the awards conversation in recent years. (Aziz Ansari went so far as to bring a prop book entitled “Losing to Jeffrey Tambor With Dignity” to the 2016 Golden Globes.)

While Tambor’s work on “Transparent” Season 4 is technically eligible for Emmys consideration this year, Amazon will not be submitting him, following reports of sexual misconduct that led to his firing from the show.

Academy voters will still be able to consider Tambor’s work in “Arrested Development,” though,

Jeffrey Tambor to Compete in Emmy Race for ‘Arrested Development’

Although Amazon pulled “Transparent” star Jeffrey Tambor out of the 2018 Emmy Awards race in early May, the actor will be in the running for the nomination-voting that starts June 11, Variety has confirmed. Netflix is submitting him in the supporting comedy actor category for his work in the fifth season of “Arrested Development,” which bows just ahead of this year’s close of Emmy eligibility.

Amazon opted not to campaign for Tambor, who was accused of sexual harassment on their set, with the first allegation being made at the end of 2017 by his former assistant, Van Barnes. A second allegation followed

‘Arrested Development’ Review: Season 5 Is (Almost) Everything Fans Hoped to See Five Years Ago — Spoiler-Free
If there was any doubt about the qualitative impact of “Arrested Development” Season 4, look no further than the first episode of Season 5. In spits and sputters (that take the literal form of many recaps and flashbacks), the first wholly new episode in five years struggles to restart its engine after smashing into a wall stairs-first half-a-decade prior. So loud and painful are Mitch Hurwitz’s grinding narrative gears that the Bluth family’s initial reintroduction inspires little hope for the road ahead.

But hop on nonetheless. The opening entry exemplifies the pain it takes to overhaul a broken down classic, but the next six more closely resemble the beauty of old and should leave viewers optimistic for what’s coming.

In order to qualify for the Emmys, only eight episodes of the fifth season’s 16 total entries will be released on May 29; seven of those were given to critics for review.

Portia de Rossi Opens Up to Wife Ellen DeGeneres About Why She Decided to Quit Acting
Portia de Rossi made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday and confirmed that she has quit acting for good. Sitting down with her wife for the honest chat, Portia confessed that she originally made the decision 18 months ago, explaining, "I kind of knew what acting would look like for me for the next 10, 20 years, so I decided to quit and start a business." However, though Shonda Rhimes promptly wrote her character out of Scandal, the folks over at Arrested Development clearly had a harder time letting go!

Portia confirmed that she will, in fact, appear in a number of episodes of the upcoming season five. After that, it really does look like we'll say goodbye to Lindsay Bluth Fünke for good, but her colleagues weren't going to let her go without a celebration. Portia's friends at Arrested Development delivered a very special (and incredibly generous) gift to
