American Idol fans are fuming about the voting and they claim that Nya should have won, but instead, she was eliminated. Actually, there has been more drama this season, and it seems that Katy Perry might not be missed after they called her out for being “cruel” to Odell Bunton Jr. She’d made him think he was out when he was really passed through by the judges.
American Idol Final 12 Elimination Makes Fans Mad
The reality TV talent show already upset a lot of people when the judges kept Kayko and sent away Abby Blake. You might recall that Abby was the original applicant and Kayko only accompanied her on the piano. Well, he got offered a ticket to Hollywood, and ultimately, the main contestant left the show before he did. So, viewers slammed the judges for that. Their angry opinions didn’t change the outcome though.

[Warning: The below contains spoilers for American Idol.] American Idol competition rolled on into a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame-themed night. These talented singers and budding artists took on legendary music from inductees over the years. Helping them ahead of Sunday’s performances was their mentor, Kiss icon Gene Simmons, who watched the live program from a trademark throne. The Top 14 had to face the judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie but it was the people who they had to win over. That’s because America’s votes during the live show ultimately decided who made up the Top 12 and who would leave the competition. Luke got the party started with a performance of John Mellencamp’s “Small Town,” looking to have recovered from falling off the stage during a Vancouver concert the night before. Adding to the evening’s festivities was host Ryan Seacrest and Lionel breaking the news of the upcoming 2024 Rock...

The first live coast-to-coast episode of “American Idol” Season 22 aired on Sunday, April 21 on ABC, with the Top 14 contestants performing in front of host Ryan Seacrest, judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, and guest mentor Gene Simmons. Viewers all across the nation voted 19.9 million times throughout the two-hour episode, which had a theme of “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,” and the Top 12 artists made it to the next round. In the end, the two singers who were eliminated were Nya and Jordan Anthony.
Throughout the competition, Nya sang tunes like “Wait a Minute!” (Auditions round), “Get Ready” (Showstopper round), “The Best” (Top 24 round), “Georgia on My Mind”, “Water” and “I Say a Little Prayer” (Top 14 round). The 28-year-old Broadway performer from Manhattan, New York was an early favorite on the show, but the judges had to save her last week when she placed in the bottom — never a good sign.

If you've seen the trailers for Guy Ritchie's new movie "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare," there's one zany aspect that likely stood out to you. The historically-based action flick seems to be having fun with its Nazi-killing sequences, so much so that Henry Cavill's hero can be seen sticking his tongue out like a rock star on stage every time he kills a German soldier. It's a weird, memorable detail that was improvised on the spot by Ritchie and Cavill, according to the latter's new interview with Variety.
"It was a co-improvisation between Guy and myself," the actor explained when speaking to Variety at the film's premiere this week. Apparently, it came about when the writer-director, presumably having shot a few takes the expected way, started encouraging Cavill to get a bit wild. "Guy said, 'I want you to have more fun with it. Stick your tongue out or something,...

JoJo Siwa showed up at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards in an interesting costume. She had her face painted up similar to Kiss bassist Gene Simmons while wearing a revealing black and silver leather and fishnet outfit. It turned a lot of heads. It also brought out the people who love to hate everything about the former reality TV star.
However, Gene Simmons said he loved how JoJo dressed and defended the young star.

Kiss are the latest artists to sell off their music catalog — and, in this case, their well-known onstage personas and makeup — for big money.
The band — which closed out its (alleged) farewell tour in December 2023 — announced they have sold the rights to their music and imagery to Pophouse, the Swedish company that created the Abba Voyage hologram show and is working on a similar project involving Kiss.
While the price wasn’t revealed in a joint press release, Fortune reports that Kiss raked in upwards of $300 million in the sale.

The Story: It is the future (like say – 1989). Robots are now commonplace, being used for everything from manual labor to childcare. But, robots go bad and when they do, the LAPD calls in Sgt. Jack R. Ramsay (Tom Selleck), an expert in so-called “Runaways”. When a madman (Gene Simmons) invents a microchip that turns all robots into runaways, Ramsay, and his new partner (Cynthia Rhodes) must put a stop to his evil plan – the fate of the world just may depend on it! Oh, and also Ramsay is afraid of heights. Trust me, that’s important.
The Players: Starring: Tom Selleck, Cynthia Rhodes, Kirstie Alley, G. W. Bailey and Gene Simmons. Written and directed by Michael Crichton.
The History: While most famous for his novels, Michael Crichton actually had a decent Hollywood career as a director, having a couple of solid hits under his belt by the time 1984 rolled around.

He continued, “We’ll see. It really depends on how the movie does. I think that there’s a lot of really cool ideas we have [about] where we would go with it. I’m open to it and excited for what the future brings.”

The Beatles‘ “Love Me Do” is one of those bubblegum pop songs like The Monkees’ “Daydream Believer” or The Archies’ “Sugar, Sugar” that is perfect in its simplicity. Paul McCartney said he and John Lennon had no idea what they were doing when they wrote the song. John said the tune was markedly different from later Beatles tunes like “Penny Lane.”

Spoiler Alert: This article continues spoilers for the film “Drive-Away Dolls.”
In Ethan Coen’s “Drive-Away Dolls,” an homage to the colorful, brash world of exploitation cinema, there’s a notable cameo from none other than Miley Cyrus. Cyrus appears in a psychedelic swirl of flashbacks as Tiffany Plastercaster, seen titillating a college-aged version of Matt Damon’s character, who will come to be a conservative Senator in Florida. Plastercaster does as her name implies, crafting a replica dildo for the aspiring politician’s stimulated member.
It may sound far-fetched, but Cyrus’ cameo is inspired by Cynthia Plaster Caster — real name Cynthia Albritton — the artist and groupie who famously cast the genitals of musicians and others in plaster, from Jimi Hendrix to The Dead Kennedys’ Jello Biafra.
Albritton, who died in 2022, also cast female breasts in later years in an effort to even the playing field, with subjects including Karen O,...

In the 1980s, Hollywood didn’t quite know what to do with Rutger Hauer. The actor broke out in a pretty major way following his acclaimed turn in Paul Verhoeven’s Soldier of Orange, paving the way for his American debut in the Sylvester Stallone thriller Nighthawks, where he played the villain Wulfgar. His performance as Roy Batty in Blade Runner blew people away, and for a while, it looked like he might become the next big Hollywood heartthrob, especially when he signed on to star in the epic adventure film Ladyhawke opposite Michelle Pfeiffer for Richard Donner.
But major stardom didn’t happen? Why? Perhaps it was because the movies of Hauer’s that did best at the box office were the ones where he played the villain, such as The Hitcher. He was so unforgettable as a bad guy that when he played a hero, such as in...

Last year, we heard that Gene Simmons of the rock band Kiss would be launching a new production company with Gary Hamilton (so the company is appropriately called Simmons/Hamilton Productions), and the first project they had given the greenlight was a shark thriller called Deep Water – with Deep Blue Sea director Renny Harlin attached to take the helm of the film! That film has since made its way through production, and a couple days ago we learned that the cast includes Aaron Eckhart of Harlin’s The Bricklayer, Sir Ben Kingsley (Gandhi), Molly Wright (Netflix’s True Spirit), Angus Sampson (Mad Max: Fury Road), Kelly Gale (Plane), singer and actor Li Wenhan, who is a member of the Chinese-Korean K-Pop group Uniq, and Nashi (Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms). Now a first look image has made its way online, and it shows the characters played by Eckhart and Wright.

Gene Simmons, Sharon Osbourne, and Boy George are among the celebrities who have signed an open letter rejecting a movement to prevent Israel from competing in the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest.
The annual Eurovision song contest welcomes different nations to compete, and includes countries outside of Europe, including Israel and Australia, among others. There have been calls from artists from countries such as Sweden and Finland demanding Israel’s exclusion from the contest due to the latter’s current military action in Gaza.
Last month, a letter was issued on behalf of more than 1,000 Swedish artists — signed by music acts like Robyn, First Aid Kit, and Fever Ray — reading in part, “Allowing Israel’s participation undermines not only the spirit of the competition but the entire public service mission. It also sends the signal that governments can commit war crimes without consequences. Therefore, we appeal to the Ebu: Exclude Israel from...

Scooter Braun, Emmy Rossum and Helen Mirren are among 400 celebrities and industry executives who’ve signed an open letter supporting Israel’s inclusion in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
Although there has been no suggestion the European Broadcasting Union, which organizes the annual singing competition, has any intention of barring Israel from the event, the open letter has been published in response to a handful of fringe voices calling for a ban.
Other signatories to the letter include “The Big Bang Theory” star Mayim Bialik, Kiss frontman Gene Simmons, “Once Upon a Time” actor Ginnifer Goodwin and “Ray Donovan” lead Liev Schreiber, among hundreds of others. Industry figures also include Saban CEO Haim Saban, Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr, Mattel CEO Ynon Kreiz and WME partner David Levy.

A group of 400 actors, musicians and entertainment execs including Helen Mirren, Liev Schreiber and Gene Simmons have penned an open letter supporting the decision for Israel to remain in the Eurovision Song Contest.
Released by non-profit industry org Creative Community for Peace, the letter backs the decision of Eurovision organizer the European Broadcasting Union (Ebu) to keep Israel in this year’s contest. The Ebu has been under pressure from detractors to ban the nation over the bombardment of Gaza in response to Hamas’ October 7 attacks.
Other signees include Scooter Braun, Boy George, Mayim Bialik, Haim Saban, Julianna Margulies, Sharon Osbourne and Debra Messing.
Punishing Israel would be an “inversion of justice,” the letter says. “Israel is fighting a war against a European Union-designated terrorist group that once again broke a ceasefire that day, and then went on to slaughter over 1,200 people,” it adds. “This current round of fighting is...

The Pitch: Let Me Own This Blu-Ray Before I’m Buried in My Official Kiss-Branded Coffin
Few musical acts in American history have done more with less than Kiss. Despite boasting some of the simplest and most uninspired (if occasionally very catchy) songs of the 1970s, the shock rock act built a loyal following and merchandising empire around the novel idea of wearing makeup while singing. Kiss recently played their final concert ever, but singer-bassist Gene Simmons is not ready to quit performing quite yet.
Simmons has booked a date with his solo project, Gene Simmons Band, at the Brazil edition of the Summer Breeze festival on April 26th in São Paulo. It’s the first post-kiss activity from any of the remaining band members, and the announcement comes just over a month after Kiss retired from performing in human, non-avatar form after two concerts at Madison Square Garden.
Simmons’ solo band last played in 2018 and typically runs through a setlist comprised of Simmons-penned Kiss material and deep cuts. The band’s current lineup is rounded out by guitarists Brent Woods and Zach Throne (Corey Taylor) and drummer Brian Tichy.
For Simmons, the solo shows have offered a more intimate setting — and one where he can dig deep into Kiss’ songbook.

During Kiss’ final concert earlier this month, the (allegedly) retiring band announced plans to continue on as digital avatars. On Friday, the Destroyer act revealed when their “new era” will begin: 2027.
“50 years is a long time, and what the future holds is in the making,” Kiss said in their latest promotional video trumpeting their digital forms. “A show is coming.”
Heralded as the big surprise to close out the band’s “final” gig at New York’s Madison Square Garden, Kiss premiered their avatars, created in collaboration with Industrial Light & Magic.

Meet the new Kiss – not the same as the old Kiss, but a version that could live forever.
Kiss closed out what was billed as the final performance of their “The End of the Road” farewell tour Saturday night at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.
During the encore, cofounders Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons and guitarist Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer returned as digital avatars, as Stanley shouted that the faithful had made the band “Immortal.”
The Kiss avatars then performed “God Gave Rock and Roll to You.”
The avatars were created by George Lucas’ special-effects company, Industrial Light & Magic, in partnership with Pophouse Entertainment Group, the latter cofounded by Abba’s Björn Ulvaeus. The two companies recently teamed up for the “Abba Voyage” show in London, a full concert by the Swedish band as performed by their digital avatars.

Kiss concluded their “End of the Road Tour” with a final performance on Saturday night (December 2nd) at Madison Square Garden in New York City, returning to the city where their journey began. If it was indeed their last show ever, the rock legends certainly went out in style.
In the days leading up to Kiss’ two Msg shows, the Big Apple was besieged by an epic Kiss takeover. Among the many events and activities that took place were a special light show at the Empire State Building, the declaration of an official “Kiss Day” by Mayor Eric Adams, a pop-up store, complimentary Kiss tattoos courtesy of Inked NYC, a “Kiss Night” at a New York Rangers game, and much more.

In a perfect world, Kiss would have wrapped up the final show of their End of the World tour by inviting former members Ace Frehley and Peter Criss onto the stage for tearful hugs, an end to the bitterness that has consumed the group for decades, and one last rendition of “Rock and Roll All Nite,” giving the inevitable biopic a perfect last scene.
In the world we actually live on, Criss and Frehley were nowhere in sight when Kiss played their (supposed) final show at Madison Square Garden on Saturday evening.

Kiss are in the final weeks of their “End of the Road” farewell tour. Although the band as we know it will be calling it quits after that last show on December 2nd at Madison Square Garden, Kiss as a brand will live on.
