Paul McCrane was born on January 19, 1961 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA as Paul David McCrane. He is an actor and director, known for ER (1994), RoboCop (1987) and Fame (1980). He has been married to Dana McCrane since 1998. They have two children.

His wife, Dana Kellin, is jewelry designer. They met in a yoga class in 1996. Kellin kept her maiden name for professional use.
Has one son William Thomas (born October 2000) and has one daughter, Noa Catherine (born 2004) with wife Dana Kellin McCrane.
In addition to being one of the stars of the movie Fame (1980) he performed his own song, "Is It Okay If I Call You Mine?" which he had written for a high school girlfriend, in the film.
Was nominated for a Young Artists Award for Best Young Actor in Fame 1979-1980.
Graduated from the Roman Catholic 'Holy Ghost Preparatory School' in Bensalem, Pennsylvania in 1978.
Has a older brother Jim, and three younger sisters, Maureen, Barbara, and Deirdre.
Recorded a song, called "Miles from Here", for Fame (1980) that was cut out from the film, but added to the soundtrack as a previously unreleased track in 2003.
