The name "Tone Loc" originated when his peers once called him "Antonio Loco" (Spanish for "crazy Anthony").
The video for the song that launched him into super-stardom in the late 80s, Wild Thang, reportedly only cost $340 to make.
His 1989 debut album "Loc-ed After Dark" was the second rap album to reach #1 on the Billboard 200 after the Beastie Boys' debut album "Licensed to Ill", which was released three years earlier.
Has not released an album since 1991's "Cool Hand Loc".
